Stop insulting swill by comparing it to this stuff. Awful doesn't begin to describe the nastiness of this crud. Scary thing is they seem to actually have found a bit of a market for it. I guess the old saw about there's no accounting for taste except for taste has a ring of truth to it.

My apologies to swill. It seems like the Budwiper folks are desperate to try getting a bigger market share. That ale they recently brought out is also pretty nasty. What the hell are they thinking?

It reminds me of the "Hint of Lime" Tostitos. Should be called "Kick in the Face of Lime."

I haven't tried Bud Lime but I did try Miller Chill a while back and didn't care for it. If people like it then so be it. I'm certainly not going to get worked up about it.

Miller Chill was hideous. Bud Light Lime isn't as bad, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I got a six pack sitting out in the garage. Someone brought it over for a party in the early summer. It's sitting right next to the Landshark 6, my wife bought me for Dad's Day because I used to be a parrothead til someone absconded with my "Rancho Deluxe" cd. Bet they've both "aged" real well in the heat.

I like Bud Lime in certain situations, but it is pretty much a summer beer in my mind. I tried it while golfing this summer and liked it, maybe because it was 93 & humid. After the 12th one though the lime flavor starts to get to you. One use I found works great is a base for a shrimp marinade.

The Germans serve "Radler", which is roughly half lager beer and half lemonade. It is often served in the summer, after doing strenuous physical work, etc. I've tried both Miller Chill and Bud Light Lime, and liked neither. This almost sounds like the recent discussion on Zima and other malt-based alcoholic beverages. To any retailer carrying this product, I'd say don't worry about what you think of it. Just let sales figures determine whether or not to keep selling it.

If the US sold it (in a vastly improved form) in a German motif (using strong brew), it might work, but these lime-y things are awful, watered down, off-flavor sort of "Mexican" mess. Yuck.

BTW, Radler mean bicycle in German (Ferman?) so it was originally a drink for cyclists. Apparently it is from Bavaria. The raspberry one I mention is from the north, esp. Berlin. http://www.csulb.edu/~parayner/Radler.html

It (Buttwidener), and Miller Chill each fill a particular niche in the market. If you tried it and didn't like it, then why bother to comment further? Someone is drinking it or it would be history by now.

I bet they will not be brewing this swill in a year from now. They are currently selling the production stock and after that ... it will go the way of the "New Coke". Anyone remember that fiasco?

OT: Is there such a thing as an unskunky Heineken? I've had Jamaican brewed Heineken while in Jamaica and liked them but here in the States every one I've ever tried tasted like it sat in an unairconditioned Florida warehouse for a year.

I've had a few that I didn't care for at all, specifically Railbender Ale, Mad Anthony's Ale, and Presque isle Pilsner, from the Erie Brewing Co. It's not that they were bad it's that they weren't as good as other choices would have been. It's easy to make beer and stick a cool label on it, it's hard to make good beer.

Oh; I wouldn't know about the lime beer. I'd keep stocking it if my customers kept buying it... but then again, McDonald's sells a hell of a lot of food, and you don't compete with them. I personally would order tap water before I'd order Bud Lime.

If somebody posed the question, "How do you conceal a terrible flavor in your product?", a good response would be, "Cover it up with the taste of lime". Clearly, this is what Budweiser has done.
