2004 trailer tech 8 x 18 trailer a std 1/2 ton p/u can haul this no problem.

I tried to find Jack's phone number when I saw your email on the forum this am. I think I had it at one time or another but if I did it's gone the way of a lot of my favorite email address, and lots of other saved stuff when my last hard drive crashed. I don't know if anyone at any of the BBQ forums would have it or not. I know he was working for someone (a BBQ place)and he touched on that from time to time in his post but I'm not sure if he gave the restaurants name or not. You might do a search under his old post on the forum. One other thought he was a Southern Pride customer, they'll have his number, but most likely won't share it, but may contact him on your behalf. I'll post this note to you on the forum just in case someone else has his number or a better clue than this. For 27 years I did talk radio and when my producer couldn't find a number for someone that was in the news, she would call all the people in that area code with the same last name. Many times we could find a brother, sister, or some other family member that did have a listed number. Some of them would just give us the number we were looking for, others would make a call to find out if it was ok to pass on the unlisted number to us.

I hope what ever the emergency was, has passed and we all hear from Jack soon.

PS In fact I have had family members get in a car and drive to the home of our target and ask them to call us back. My favorite was the sheriff that rented a video camera and video recorder, made a porn tape with his wife and then left the tape in the recorder which his wife promptly returned to the rental company. They of course made copies and on and on. He said, "she didn't want late fees." LOL

Jack, I thought about that also but did'nt want to appear a stalker or something, lol. I have his address and he lives about 1-1/2 hrs from me , so not a problem. But with the medical problems he related to, i just did not want to bother him on a small matter.
I would by his trailer in a heartbeat and have the cash, but i will wait to hear from him if he wants to sell it.

On a side note, I am very impressed with all your posts. I am just finnishing upreading the last ones.It is amazing how open and honest people are in this bussiness and it helps immensly with my program. I was a sales manager for many years and have owed a few bussiness in the past but the food gig is a whole different ballgame. I like you , i believe, have a love of bbq and am starting to compete this year and would like to be ble to substain the two together in one form or another. You and the others have saved me alot of time and it is well apreciated. My wife has told me someone, if they have not yet, should start a consulting businnes for MFD's to walk them through the steps and help the proess along. I truly believe the gov makes it very hard to swim through all the regs and many are not very clear at all and seem archiac. I want my food to be safe but seriously, sometimes some of this stuff does not make sense at all.

He is going to call me tommorow night @ 7pm, If it is as he said, and i am sure it is, yes i will be the proud owner of it for the asking price, no negotiatians, no bs, have cash and would be proud to own it, maybe will ask for his number for some learning curve advice, but yes, i will take it.
Lookout though, i will be asking alot of questions from you all in my new adventure, especially in this ever changing economy.
And on a side note, DR your website and all included advice has been very helpful. Coming to Pigfest in Lakeland?, feel free to call me and you and yours are more than welcome to use my equipment and stay at our house. We live 25 minutes from site, my wife works nearby at Verizon. I bought a FEC100 this weekend and if i get the trailer i will have 2, plus a electric cs for holding and they let you sell at Pigfest, unusual here in florida from what i have seen. I am taking thr KCBS judge class there and my cook in the Publix backyard cook off, not quiet ready for the big league yet. I am also taking the FBA judge class this weekend at Perry FL.thought it would be a good way to see what juges like, not everyone likes it the way the HOG likes it, Spicy and hot you know.....

Well good for you and good for Jack I'm glad everything seems as though it's going to turn out well. I really appreciate the offer, and I'd love to get away at the end of January.Illinois is no fun, weather wise, January or February. But lets get a little closer and I'll think about it. As far as the questions go, after you attend two judging schools, and with Jack close for some telephone consulting, you should be ready to kick some tail. The people that put on KCBS judging schools are pretty darn good BBQ people. And Jack is very good also. I hope things go well for you both tomorrow.

Good move! I've met Jack & Peggy and spent a day cooking beside them at a cook off a few years ago. They are genuine, experienced and ethical folks, so I'm sure you've got a trailer/equipment that has been well taken care of and has been represented accurately to you.

He can't take time off again, since the wedding time, till the 20th, so we will meet up then. He does seem really ethical and honest from what i have read and in talking to him on the phone. So many people, especially on the internet tend to be a little flaky when you meet them, or call them, but i DID NOT GET THAT FEELING WITH JACK. Just talked to him on the phone for a few minutes but, seemed honest and sincere.
Hope all goes well and economy turns around. It is getting worse here, vacation mecca and all, hell you can eat at Steak and Shake now for under $4.oo for a triple and fries, amazing the discounting going on. On a funny note, I stopped at Wally World yesterday to get a Redbox DVD today and a MFD was draining his gray tanks into their parking lot drain, lol, he didn't speak much english when i knocked on the door to ask him what the grey greasy stuff was leaking from the truck to the ground but seemed to understand when the HD knocked on the door a few minutes later while he was still draining his grey water tanks into WW drain while cleaning his truck up. the greeter at the door said " i wonder why he parked in the lot everyday at 4pm for a couple hours, but never sold any food" duh. Never ceases to amaze me .

i sincerely hope that hogsmith is doing alright since i was unable to make contact with him after serveral attempts and i do hope that all is well with him.
also,as much as i wanted to do things fairly( i.e. make an appointment and following interested parties would have to wait) this will no longer be the case and it will become a 1st come 1st served basis.
i want to thank all of the people who have contacted me or expressed well wishes and i truly believe that 1st come,1st served is the only fair basis for this sale

I am guessing that you are talking about the BBQ on the River Festival. It is the last weekend in Sept. (Thurs., Fri., & Sat. are the sale days) Attendance is generally in the 30,000+ range. There are usually 80-100 BBQ teams competing plus other vendors.

I am not sure if it is true for "all" vendors or not, but for the BBQ teams this is a charity event. We were the #1 team last year in terms of meat sold...cooked and sold over 6000 lbs. of pork, ribs & chickens. Our charity was happy:-)

Those are some impressive, numbers. How many people did you have working and how much did you precook? Tell me about your set up, smoker, trailer, service windows, exact menu, everything. LOL In fact do you know how many people you served? I have never gone through 6000 lbs in 3 days I'm impressed.

Not looking to hijack the thread, but a little info for those who are interested.

Our competition team (The Buzzard Brothers) has about 10 members. All of our cookers are wood fired...burn the hickory down to coals & shovel them into the pits. The largest is on a tandem trailer and has 4-4X4 chambers on each side. Next largest holds 96 butts, then another that holds about 75 butts, plus the whole hog cooker, which in addition to the hog will also hold about 20 butts. We start cooking on Wed. night and cook around the clock till about noon Saturday.

Our charity (local church) provides the people to work the "front" where we have warmers, coolers, 3 comp. sink etc. The church ladies make and serve the sides...all we do is keep them in BBQ. Well...we might drink the occasional beer:-) As a matter of fact, some say that we are a drinking team with a BBQ'ing problem.

We have a 40X40 area under tent with about a 16' front serving area. The charity supplies 20+ workers in shifts.

All BBQ vendors/competitors are required to use the same on-site meat vendor, charge the same prices etc. Cash sales...no tickets.

 the rig that is for sale,with only two people (one serving finished product,taking orders and collercting money and one person filling orders,handcutting brisket and restocking the smokers) can comfortably accomodate 75 orders per hour. with two smokers,each of which having a 150 pound capacity and using rotational cooking methods this can be maintained all day or until the workers wear out which ever comes first. while the rig does have a steam table it has yet to be used. the two smokers come in very handy when doing events of two days or more and during slow periods the electric smoker can be set to hold a holding temp with no degradtion of product quality assuming the correct methods are utilized. while the bbq purists look down their noses at pellet smokers or worse electric units for professional as opposed to contest use they more than prove their worth.

and yes while i do have people in various stages of considering buying the rig it none the less remains for sale to the first person with  money in hand making a reasonable offer.                                                          oh and the fec100 pellet smoker is a multitime winner of the jack daniels invitational which makes this rig good for both sales and contests

No idea about that, but I did meet with Jack and his lovely wife Peggy this afternoon. Truly nice folks who were a pleasure to do business with. The rig was everything he said it was and I am very pleased (and a little scared) to be the new owner.

Now what? I am typing this from a motel room in St. Augustine...and since my son and a friend of mine are tired of my foolishness and don't want to spend another day in sunny Florida, I will probably pull out early Sunday for Kentucky and begin the learning curve.

Jack and Peggy have graciously offered their advice and help, which was well received. This old stick-burner is going to need some help no doubt. The Cookshacks are very versatile units & I have a lot to learn.

Neat, congratulations on your new rig. You’re going to have a learning curve but you’re not inexperienced and the Cookshack is a great unit. In fact I think they are easier to learn than a stick burner. I’m sure Jack shared his tips and tricks with you which puts you way ahead of the rest of us.

i found my cooking log books for both the fec100 and the sm150. peggy will be sending those to you 1st class mail this coming monday. i will also include the pork rub recipe that got us the peoples choice award down in lake okeechobee and the wing recipe that got us 2nd on the wing cook off when the super bowl was in jacksonville. be careful on the road going home!!!!
