Kudos to NY Magazine! They've defined the Best Steak in NYC!...By the cut!
Always made perfect sense to me...It's the most fair and professional way to look at the subject IMHO. Luger's is great, if you want a porterhouse steak. But, what if your first love is a NY Strip? Or perhaps a ribeye? So this article gives some props to Spark's and deservedly so!
Anyway, here are their Best of's
Piece by Piece for "2008" as I jotted them down. Please excuse me if I've misspelled something...I'm posting for the concept that's what's important to me....I've never even heard of some of these places....
A Porterhouse - Go to Luger's
A NY Sirloin Strip - Go to Spark's
A Filet - Go to Primehouse - 381 Park Ave S
The Rib Eye - (bone-in) Go to Robert's Steakhouse - In Penthouse Executive Club (strip joint?) 603 W 45th
The Rib Chop (off the bone)- Go to Brandt's - 10 Columbus Circle
They also address two other favorites of some diners
Kobe Beef - Go to Craftsteak - 85 10th Ave
Hanger Steak - Go to BLT Prime - 111 E 22nd St..Not sure why they threw this one in (inexpensive cut) and they do sort of allude to that....
