Seriously.  I read the poll and my first thought was, where is the bacon?  It's just not breakfast without bacon.  I'm perfectly happy with nothing but bacon for breakfast.

I didn't see kishka or bialys, or ham or sausage, or even creamed chipped beef.

Add:    Creamed chipped beef on toast.
            
           Toad in the hole (butter a piece of bread on both sides, cut a hole in the center, put the bread in a hot frying pan, break an egg into the hole, flip the bread when ready and cook the other side. Cook the cutout hole on the side to use for dipping into the yolk)

I'm sorry but coffee & Cigarettes do not qualify as Breakfast. Breakfast consists of eating something and unless you eat cigarettes in the morning, it doesn't count. PERIOD!

Well, there always was that possible response.
Breakfast literally is about breaking a fast since the last meal.  A beverage that jump starts the day falls into this category.  This can be found more in the big cities.  I wanted to add Coke or Pepsi too, as that is a Southern breakfast beverage.

I was wondering about the Eggs selection,  because I never eat eggs for breakfast by themselves.  I'll usually have them with biscuits & gravy, or with pancakes/waffle, or with bacon/sausage. 

And I cast a vote for my real comfort breakfast: creamed chipped beef over biscuits.  Topped, of course, with an egg!  (Hubba Hubba!)

A lot of mornings it's just toast or an English muffin with coffee.

Taylor ham and cheese on a hard roll or leftovers.

It is important not to be provincial, and I think that it may also be a Italian breakfast too.  It was breakfast -within- many kitchens where I cooked breakfast. That's how we started the day.

I see two votes for chipped beef. I love both chipped beef or sausage gravy and to me, they both are equal and fall into the SOS food group. So does tomato minced beef on toast; U.S.N. recipe....

I think that waffles, pancakes and French toast fall into the 'Syrup coated' category and could have been listed together.
Seeing that bagels are listed, I will also submit that -donuts are missing from the poll.
Other possible nominations: Pop Tarts, Instant Breakfast/Ensure, Red Bull....

I buy sausage patties from Aldi's and I slap together a egg sandwich in minutes for a fast meal.

I put together a homemade breakfast sandwich nearly every day.  Bagel, bacon, egg, cheese.  So I had to put "ssomething else" on the poll.

I had a very nice breakfast for dinner last evening -- an omelet with green onion, fontina and Asiago cheeses, and a nice Chardonnay.

ahh yes--the Northern California breakfast-----"Mud and Bud"---Wake and bake everybody!--------but---i still want bacon with my eggs---and wheat berry toast! and hash browns!!!!

I checked off "something else" due to the fact the items are endless.
Baked beans or chicken livers, and here in some parts of the New England shore area, creamed cod on toast or bisquits.
These days it's always oatmeal and fruit as a starter for me along with my coffee. Latter on in the morning I may have dropped eggs on beans and whatever is hanging around for a meat selection.
But in the spirit of the poll, that is thinking if going out for breakfast, you know "Roadfood"

In summer I like a sandwich of toasted bread, tomatos, egg and bacon.         Mr Wabbit says scrapple!

Depends on what I'm in the mood for... frankly, a slice of cold pizza would be my number one choice, most days.. I prefer heavier breakfast foods for later in the day.  To start the day,  a little oatmeal or toast is nice.. maybe a little fruit.

Mark, I think I stumbled into the middle of something here. What is this thread about? If it's a list of favorite breakfast foods, I'm game. Here goes: crispy bacon, sausage patties, country ham, scrambled eggs ( dry ), hash browns or home fries, white toast, sausage gravy n' biscuits, cold pizza, Cheerios, Kellogg's Corn Flakes, Cocoa Krispies, and raspberry Pillsbury Toaster Strudel. That's it - nothing else. Yeah, I know... I need to expand my culinary horizons. Maybe with a little encouragement from you guys.....          Oops, I forgot - brown sugar-cinnamon Pop-Tarts! 

Garlic cheese grits, but usually on holidays.

Yes, Mark, definitely frosted. Maybe one of these days, when I'm down in Cincinnati, I might actually work up the nerve to try goetta for breakfast ( like they say, "when in Rome..." )

Me memory did fail me; I forgot pancakes, waffles and donuts!

Oatmeal, juice, coffee or if I go out once in a while I'll have Corned beef hash with scrambled and whole wheat toast.
