I was much too young back then to be a curmudgeon. I was merely a nasty SOB, looking forward to attaining curmudgeonhood.

I'm with Michael, stuff in that era was good. I watched wrestling circa 1950 because my uncle was a friend of Glorious George who I met a number of times back then. Plus Kukla Fran and Ollie was pretty good!!!

What a fun thread!

I had a crush on the Cisco Kid, Superman, and Perry Como.

Besides that I watched Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Fury, Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse Club, Captain Video, American Bandstand, Twilight Zone, and variety shows like Red Skelton, Ed Sullivan, and Jackie Gleason.

As a little kid I went to two shows:  Hoppity Skippity (local to DC), where I had hoped to see real live cartoon characters, and I saw a dress rehearsal of the Ed Sullivan show in NYC.

Hey Pancho!

I also forgot The Cisco Kid.

In the Los Angeles wrestling arena we had Magnificent Maurice.  I also loved wrestling and once in awhile got to go see it live with my father.  :)

I was not allowed to watch much TV as a kid.  My father was a TV repairman and he didn't want to have that "idiot box" on when he got home.  I think on Sundays we watched Lassie and Ed Sullivan.  The highlight of the week was when my parents would go play cards with my aunt and uncle.....but first we had to watch Lawrence Welk.

I remember listening to Our Miss Brooks on the radio before we got a TV.
Also the Lone Ranger and the Great Gildersleeve.

I remember listening to Our Miss Brooks on the radio before we got a TV.
Also the Lone Ranger and the Great Gildersleeve.

I lived without TV for a couple years in the early 90's and got used to listening to the radio including replays of old radio shows.  Very enjoyable still.

The Great Gildersleeve was one of those shows.   Harold Peary, aka the Great Gildersleeve is also the host of a number of old Faygo sodapop commercials including the one which plays the Faygo Boat Song from around 1970.
While not a TV show ... still a commercial from my younger years, and a very nostalgic one ...

Absolutely loved Lost In Space as a kid, and The Twilight Zone.
Cool thing is they are showing again on a local station called ME TV.

I always liked when George Pierrot had this guy Stan Midgley as a guest - all his films had him in the mountains of the northwest and up into Canada. Did a lot of bicycling and camping punctuated with a lot of goofy sight gags. He must have been doing it for ages, because some of his films I saw ca. 1970 looked like they were from the '40s.
