I enjoy nutella, but only if part of a dessert. I know people eat it straight from the jar.

This is what I do:

Take a crepe and spread it was slightly warmed up nutella, then add length wise halved banana (you can use a whole one if you prefer), and roll up. Dust with cocoa powder, nutmeg, and icing sugar, drizzle with chocolate sauce, and add some whipped cream on the top.

And a Sambuca straight up.

On Super Bowl Sunday, we always have friends over and make homemade pizzas. This year we made a Chocolate Pizza--brush pizza dough with melted butter & bake for 4-5 minutes, then spread with nutella, top with chopped semi-sweet chocolate, chopped white chocolate, & chopped toasted hazelnuts and bake until chopped chocolate melts. It was a hit!

@John A -- Laughs, yes, how can i forget the cherry! It would actually add a nice colour contrast.

At this one place in my city, they served a similar dessert, except theirs was fancier looking, and their garnish was a single orchid bloom.

At 12 dollars for the dessert, i wondered if i was paying more for the flower than the dessert.

@nocarolina.

Yes, i can understand that. I can only have in small amounts and only as part of a dessert.

I have found imitation brands not that good though, it has to Nutella.

Thanks for commenting.

I must be the only person on the planet not crazy about Nutella. Must be the taste of the hazelnuts.
Guess I'll never get invited to Giada's house.

peanut butter & nutella sandwich

nutella on fresh strawberries

nilla wafer sandwiches made with nutella

or just on a spoon.

Get the stuff imported from Canada, they don't make theirs with hydrogenated oil. Aldi used to have some generic stuff that didn't have it either.

Gosh, do I love that stuff! Straight out of the jar, on French bread, with butter on a croissant, shortbread cookies, spread atop a slice of pecan pie. I've been known to spread some on a strawberry Poptart. If there is anything better, the Good Lord kept it for himself!
Yeah, stricken detective, the Aldi version was just as good, too. And cheaper.

My kids' favorite breakfast is what they call "chocolate toast." Just butter and then Nutella on toast, but it sets up your whole day.

In Paris, the sidewalk crepe makers made a dessert crepe by sprinkling Nutella on a freshly made crepe!

They insist on having it cut into quarters. Once in a while they head out for the bus stop and leave a quarter untouched. It's like a tip for Mom!

We should get sidewalk crepemakers here in North America. We have delicious street meat, why not crepes?

@braumsteinm--then i am living in the wrong city!

Where i live, the only thing being sold on the street are hotdogs/sausages in the downtown area.

In our little Italy, its all bit on posh side, and only get vendors out when there is a festival, and when that happens, it is a bit pricey. While I enjoy upscale, something a bit less of that nature would be nice.

Speaking of crepes, some people make their canneloni made from crepes instead of pasta. Its pretty good.

I'm with Twinwillow.

It looks like chocolate which I love.  However the taste escapes me.  I want to like it, but I just don't.

I'll leave it for someone who does like it.

Dearfolk,
No matter how much I love Nutella (and I do, and can easily find it here in Athens), the sugar plays Whaley with my body and I have repercussions. When they invent a sugarless substitute (or is there one that I haven't discovered yet?), I'll buy a jar and probably eat a sixth of it out in one sitting, using a very jealous spoon. Yum!

We love the stuff; we discovered it a while back.

If you put it inside wonton skins, shape them like ravioli, fry them, and sprinkle with powdered sugar you have a lovely and elegant dessert.

My wife makes a semi-homemade ice cream cake using Nutella. She starts with a graham cracker crust. Puts a layer of ice cream on the bottom, then a layer of Nutella followed by another layer of ice cream (different variety) and topped with cool whip, Hershey's chocolate and sprinkles. It's a big hit in our household and a lot cheaper than a Carvel cake.

I do not buy nutella, I found out something VERY interesting.  I like the taste too much and everytime I would buy a jar, it would disappear within days.  personally I blame it on the little green men from mars that come down at night and raid the fridge and pantry.  I mean WHO ELSE would open a jar of nutella and hours later it would be gone.
