Frankly Burgers, Freehold, NJ

I met up with my sister at Strictly Burgers in the Raintree Shopping Center in Freehold...
it's off Route 9 , and there is a nice Foodtown supermarket in the shopping center..
 
Their single Italian hot dog ($3.75) was PERFECT!
The Pizza bread roll was about the BEST I EVER HAD !  Most of the time I find those rolls are TOO bready, but NOT this time...
                                                                                                                                                                              The 1/3 pound cheeseburger was real good. I got it charbroiled.(one has a CHOICE of charbroiled or on the flat top grill....)  (nice, unique concept to have a choice)

I would order the DOUBLE burger next time, as I think my single burger had some "grill shrinkage"..
it was real good meat, so I want to be able to taste it even MORE...
$4.00 for a 1/3 pound burger; the extra $2.00 for a double is worth it, IMO..
 
Here's a shot of our table of FUN FOODS!  The FRESH CUT FRIES were real good, too..
the roll for the burger was a bit too bready for me...the owner Ralph said that he had been planning to talk to the bakery about that, as they are suddenly coming out a little too thick..

I hope to get back there real soon; perhaps next week!!
I will have the double burger the next time, and the  single Italian hot dog again....
It's great to see an independant little operation like this in this age of corporate chains...

Ellen, I enjoyed your post, especially the pictures. That charbroiled burger looks really good. If I ever get back to NJ ( next year, I hope ), I'll have to keep Frankly Burgers in mind. 

I've read the several informative posts on Frankly Burgers & More with interest. Looks like a good, clean operation. I'm crossing my fingers for them and will visit when time allows.

AHHHH!  I forgot to try the coleslaw. Looks really good.

Frankly, I would like a Bigger Burger.

Even though sis & I were there at a quiet time, 3 pm,( long after the probable lunch rush), owners Ralph & Carolyn,  and their one helper were continuously cleaning and prepping...
(there was not goofing off , or workers texting to their boyfriends/gf's...
This place is FRANKLY very serious about their operation!)

AHHHH!  I forgot to try the coleslaw. Looks really good.

We got the cole slaw as part of the "hamburger/fries/cole slaw" combo..
and of course, I also had a single Italian hot dog..
 
That had to be perhaps the BEST Italian hot dog I ever had, which is a pretty strong statement, I know..
it's just that I find the others are usually much TOO BREADY on the pizza bread roll..
plus their PEPPERS were so perfect; I know you loved them , too , JOHN FOX

Frankly, I would like a Bigger Burger.

That's why I'm going for the DOUBLE burger this time...
even though these are 1/3 pound, my sis thought they must've suffered some grill shrinkage..
 
Also, Ralph , the owner, pointed out a sample of a smaller roll he might start using..  he had asked me what I thought about the current roll he was using.
I was honest and told him I thought it was a little too bready, and I wanted to be able to taste the yummy burger more..
 
The cole slaw, potato salad, honey mustard, and bbq sauce with onions are all homemade.... (Carolyn makes the latter)
the burgers are FRESH meat, never frozen

Now if I had my buddy, Signman with me, he would've remembered to get those neon sign pics. They don't call him "Signman" for nothing, now!

WOW!! I love that they give you a choice of how they cook 'em!!  I'd just HAVE to try a double with one patty of each....MMMM  greasy AND charbroiled the best of both worlds!     Dawn

Good eye Don......I totally missed those signs.  Place looks real nice and food sounds very good.  I can only hope the owners are successful with this worthy venture.

Great report as usual. I stopped by and ate there their first week open and had mixed reviews. I'm certainly close enough to Freehold, I'll have to stop back and try again.

not you personally, but to make that burger look good.

were going to try to fit FRANKLY BURGERS  into are travels today. if we get there i'll post our findings.

Well we made in to FRANKLY BURGERS +MORE.........................................
 
THE FINDING'S OF OUR TRIP..........................................
 
1.Very clean place.
2.Staff was friendly
3.they do pay attention to their customers
 
OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN NOW..............
 
1. Menu board ( wrong location )
2. Place Order here/ pick-up here (no, enough staff, to bring food out to tables).
3.Customer's with children (suggest kid's menu, i say this because of the location of menu board).
 
Food was fine  (average to good)
 
1. cali burger w/cheese  $5.25+.50= $5.75
2.burger (kid) order of fries $4.50+$2.50=$7.00
3.pull pork sandwich (new item) $6.00
4. italian hot dog (double) onion rings $6.25+$3.75=$10.00
5. order of fries(reg.order size) $2.50
6. 4 drinks from the cooler $ ?????? $6.00 ????
 
     ..............$37.25 plus tax..........
 
we feel we over spent, considering we had couple kids with us, YES are mistake, they got us this time, next time will get them LOL.
 
1a. hamburgers were fine, nothing real earth moving, have had plenty better, and some worst.
2b. french fries again just fine, doing what everybody else is doing ( blanching then double fry) not my perfered way, wife likes them that way.
3c. pull pork sandwich not bad at first, then watch out, over whelming smoke flavor..........just keeps coming(calm it down).
4d. onion rings weren't to bad, i thought from past post they were home made, but, i saw a freezer bag as they headed to the frier.
5e. Italian hot dog.......................ooop's  (theres ketchup on the table, let the customer add it). do you cookem with that liquid smoke? was coming right thru the dogs.( i only had a very small taste of the pork, tip of the fork).
 
we'll try again another time, bust up the menu in another way and post our findings...............HAPPY EATING !!!!!
