Cheeseburger Cheeseburger Sun, 06/21/09 8:47 AM (permalink)
I norticed yesterday that a Cheeseburger Cheeseburger is opening here next week. I've never seen one and went to their web site - the closest one is in St. Louis, and the menu looks like Five Guys' menu with a some sandwich and ice cream additions.

Any thought on this chain? Should I be excited, or just keep going to Five Guys?

I prefer Cheeburger because they have milkshakes.  When I go for a good burger I like a shake.  Of course I only go for a good burger a few times a year if that [ partly to limit my shake consumption, and partly due to time constraints and a lot of brown-bag lunches]

I like their toppings - I always get the  onion ring topping.

I generally like their onion rings but unless I am with a group I don't get the fries or the  frings, just  way to many for me.

There used to be a couple of these that were relatively close; Hunt Valley MD and Mechanicsburg PA, but they went belly-up last December.

I think the same people had both locations, and although I put it down to the economy, that doesn't really explain Hunt Valley, where disposable income does not seem to be much of a problem.

I liked their burgers, really good and juicy, and the fact that it was the ONLY place somewhat local where I could get a Chocolate Egg Cream!

I've also eaten at the original location in Florida and I never realized cheeseburgers could be so good!

        Niagara,
There have been several threads here on the Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger chain. I found lots of good info in those threads.

I hadn't realized that the place was named "Cheeburger", not "Cheeseburger" - no wonder I couldn't find it when I originally ran a search.

Gee! I knew there were outlets in Timonium (probably the Hunt Valley one Beverly's talking about) and Bel Air. Looks like they're both gone. Shame. The burgers and fries were extraordinarily greasy, in my opinion, but the kids loved going there for the shakes. And the little cardboard cars. They loved the cars. (There's one on my dining room table right now.)

We finaly ate at Cheeburger Cheeburger last Thursday. I was underwhelmed.

My  burger was dry and nowhere near as good as those at Five Guys, In-N-Out or even Culvers.  I didn't try the fries or rings, but my wife raved about them. She also liked the chocolate malt, but I can't have them, being diabetic.

Having table service as opposed to ordering at the counter like Five Guys and In-N-Out was a pointless waste of time.

the owner schmoozed with us while we were eating, telling us that their name came from "that place on Saturday Night Live" - I said, "you mean the Billy Goat Tavern?" and he said "Huh?"

I don't plan on going back soon.
