Recently had toasted almond at Collins Creamery in Enfield CT.  It set a new gold standard for me.   I understand the dairy at Uconn also has toasted almond.  Can't wait for my next trip through mid CT to run a taste test.

The Babcock Dairy store here at UW had a great flavor going a week or two ago.....orange cream with chocolate chips. Fantastic!

1.1 Roasted Marshmallow..absolutely fabulous
1.2 Butter Pecan or Maple Walnut--leaning more on the latter
1.3 Honest to goodness rich vanilla, none of the artifical or fluffy gummy cheap stuff.
1.4 Not ice cream, but Limoncello sorbet

Cold Stone Creamery is WAY over priced and does not measure up taste wise. Place was empty the other day..saturday afternoon, hot, not a customer is sight. I had a sample taste, did not like it and looked at the price and left.

My favorite flavor hasn't been available in years. It's the Brandied Peach from Velvet Ice Cream in Utica, Ohio. Until a couple of years ago I'd call Velvet once a year asking whether they'd be bringing it back, and every year I'd be told it hadn't been decided.

Since Mr. Hoffman could not get his Brandied Peach ice cream he decided on BORING vanilla.  I got Limoncellato Gelato and it is delicious.

Black Raspeberry was very common in New England where I grew up.  It's still among my favorites.
I also like SOME vanilla ice creams.  Yes, vanilla.  Vanilla gets a bad rap (often deservedly so) for being boring.   Much of it is boring.  The problem is that most vanillas are TOO WEAKLY flavored, so you taste mostly the cream, and not enough actual vanilla.  But, it's wondeful when you get a really good, strongly flavored vanilla.  It is not boring when it has enough flavor.
At milk shake places that add flavor syrups, I have them do a triple shot of vanila.   It will light up your taste buds!

For many years Pralines and Cream was my top choice, with Jamocha Almond Fudge second, and Pink Grapefruit Ice a close third.  All from Baskins/ Robbins.
Now Graeter's is the source with Toffe Chip, Mocha Chip, and Fresh Peach being my favorites.

Has anyone noticeds that Sherbets are fading from the grocery freezers? We used to get quite a variety of flavors, now they have all disappeared except for the three color buckets in our local stores.

Haven't had the opportunity to try Graeter's yet. Maybe on my next trip East next year. My current favorite is Baskin-Robbins chocolate fudge. It has a very dense texture and deep flavor.

#1 favorite of all time - Lemon Ice Box Pie that I used to get at the old Janus Theatre ice cream shop in Greensboro.
Since that is no more, I've been making do with Lemony Sunshine made by Front Porch, a Carolina Churned ice cream that is quite good.

As I recall from my Arlington/McLean days, Giant Foods' "house brand" had a strong vanilla taste and "won" several WaPo "taste tests".

Several years ago Braum's (a TX - OK dairy store chain) made a wonderful flavor:  Chocolate Pecan Divinity.  It brought back fond memories of ma grandmere who used to make divinity from scratch.  Unfortunately, Braum's has discontinued the flavor.

But the flavor that has stood the test of time for my tastebuds is BR's "Jamocha Almond Fudge", but their prices have come to offend me.  How can Braum's profitably sell two huge scoops in a waffle cone for $1.89 while BR wants 5 BUCKS for two miserly scoops on a sugar cone (and allow a friggin' tip jar, to boot)?

My latest "fad" (actually ice cream frenzy) is to make myself a caramel/cashew sundae with Breyer's Natural Vanilla which Sam's Club sells for $6.89 a full gallon.

(Ah, my latest e-mail from COSTCO informs me that they are now discounting NutriSystem!)

With my absolute favorite ice cream flavor, Velvet's Brandied Peach,  not available I am currently enamored of Graeter's Summer Peach and Velvet's Peach Cobbler.

I like vanilla frozen custard. Unfortunately, most places claiming to serve "frozen custard" actually serve soft-serve ice cream, regardless of what the law says.

My favorite is anything involving mint. I love mint. Neapolitan is a close runner-up, although I guess technically that's not really a "flavor," per se...

Well, a good vanilla can't be beat, but coffee flavoured is my absolute go to. If a place offers it, I'll likely get it.

I'm definitely in the pralines and cream fan club, with Mitchell's in SF being the best I've ever tasted.  Gelato--fresh ginger.  Awesome.

A few days ago I had my first taste of Jeni's at the North Market in Columbus.  It was whiskey pecan.  Very good, but actually too many pecans and not enough icecream.  I still prefer Graeter's Summer Peach.  Unfortunately it's now gone since it's no longer summer.

That reminds me of a fun flavor called Secret Breakfast which you can get at Humphry Slocombe in SF.  It's bourbon and cornflakes in vanilla ice cream.  I mean, not real bourbon you can get drunk on, but by association, I felt like I should be getting a buzz from it. :)

I was in New England in August, where i'm from, and had the best ice cream ever.  Cotton candy at The beach Plum in Rye New Hampshire.  It was almost whipped cream texture with cotton candy mixed in.  I don't know how they do it.   I am a big fan of black raspberry, but have not found a good one in a long time.  Also, I love the seasonal flavor pumpkin.  I had it at Big Daddy's in Wells Maine. Delish.
I live in Florida now and ice cream is not big down here like it is in the northeast, buttttt, I did have great icecream at The Waffle Cone in Flagler Beach.

My favorite of all time is probably the individually wrapped spumoni slices you sometimes get served at Italian weddings ... that and Italian Lemon Ices (I know, not exactly an ice cream).

When I was a kid and going out for ice cream to Baskin & Robbins I'd usually order a double dip ... Daiquiri Ice and Lime Sherbet.

I liked Blue Moon and Superman as well.

Recently, I had an awesome sundae made with vanilla ice cream, Coca-Cola syrup and salted peanuts on top.  It was a bit like putting salted peanuts in your bottle of Coke when you drink it.
