Today's Sandwich

While I don't think I'd care to try one, I do love the name Cheesus Burger. It'll probably drive some people bonkers.

TWO grilled cheese sandwiches, plus the burger, etc. Wow. That's a bit much. Unique, but not something I think I'd get. But yeah, the name is great. One has to wonder what the exclamation is when you first see the thing - something along the lines of, "Sweet Cheesus!"

Actually, there is no way that I could've finished one on my own. We had two friends with us and had already eaten quarters of two other sandwiches, so just a quarter was plenty for me. But each sandwich "bun" had different ingredients in it, and that's why I loved it so much -- and immediately raced back to our homebase to review it! Thanks for your comments, gents. Chris

Chris, It is a well-known fact that grilled cheese sandwiches are not regionally appropriate to Portland, OR - and therefore, are not Roadfood.

Michael Hoffman Killjoy! :-) The Travelin Man that grilled cheese sandwiches are not regionally appropriate to Portland, OR Correct. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches were invented around the turn of the century (the previous one, not the most recent one) in Gary Indiana. Shortly thereafter, the inventor is said to have substituted fresh uncooked dough rolled flat for the bread, added tomato sauce, and topped the sauced dough with cheese....and there you have it.

It's not even a grilled cheese sandwich. It's a toasted cheese sandwich, as everyone who's ever waten at the Tastee-Toastee knows.

Haha, I always grew up calling them Toasted Cheese sandwiches. It wasn't until I was in college that I switched to the grilled cheese.

The Travelin Man Chris, It is a well-known fact that grilled cheese sandwiches are not regionally appropriate to Portland, OR - and therefore, are not Roadfood. so the hamburger is not roadfood either? the hot dog? so in order to be roadfood something has to be regionally appropriate? sorry TM, you're not making any sense I don't know if it's just me or are you redefining what roadfood is supposed to be?

Before we have another battle royale...the "regionally appropriate" comment was tongue in cheek...a poke at one of our roadfood purists.
