Hope you all can make it!! - billyboy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Dani Finkel 646-338-0422 dani@bubbys.com BUBBY’S 6TH ANNUAL BROOKLYN PIE SOCIAL 150 Bakers Expected to Feed 750 Hungry Pie Lovers Bubby’s Pie Company will launch its 6th Annual Brooklyn Pie Social outside its Brooklyn location in Dumbo on Sunday, September 27th from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM. The Brooklyn Pie Social raises money that will benefit two local New York City Public schools. In the true tradition of pie socials, Bubby’s invites people of all ages and baking skills to bring a pie to share. Each year Main Street in Brooklyn overflows with a wonderful assortment of pies baked by local bakers. As in previous years, it is expected not a crumb of pie will be left over. Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, the Park, the spectacular vista of Lower Manhattan serve as the dramatic backdrop for this highly anticipated celebration of pie. Last year over one hundred bakers participated in the pie social and over 600 people came to eat pie. This year we expect over 150 bakers to bring pies and 750 hundred hungry pie tasters to help devour them. This event is as close to a State Fair as we have in the city. Bakers are encouraged to use imagination and desire along with the season to come up with sweet or savory pie, cobblers, crisps, buckles, grunts, and the like. In previous years bakers have brought many kinds of pies, from traditional apple pie made from a favorite grandmother’s recipe, to a more esoteric duck confit, local fig, and blackberry pie. Strange ingredients have also found their way into pies. Chef Ron remembers an absolutely strangely crunchy cricket pie. But he also recalls an adorable Gummy Bear pie. To participate, either email dani@bubbys.com for an application, or come in to either Bubby’s Tribeca or Brooklyn locations. There is a $5.00 donation for bakers to bring pie, which entitles each baker to five tastes of another baker’ wares. For taste-only tickets, the donation is $25.00 for five tastes. Five tastes are equivalent to half a pie; sharing is encouraged.
