Going to the game tomorrow (Sunday) - last minute bus trip ticket available.  Any food recs in the new park?  I love anything good!     Thanks!

A lot of good choices!

Out in centerfield and right field is where the action is.

Starting from the right field corner...

World Showcase...Mama's of Corona sells some very good hero sandwiches. Good for anywhere, not just a ball park. Also a sushi place...but I never tried it.

Next comes a seafood place...Flounder sandwich is real good. Lobster roll is okay, not spectacular, calamari is average.

In certerfield is where ther real action is. There is pizza, but again, never tried it. 

The Frites stand has the best fries available and they are real good.

Tacos also quite good...not as good as you can get from some of the trucks on Roosevelt Ave, but good. I particularly liked the skirt steak taco.

Shake shack burger is good, but unless you get to park early...you'll wait quite a while. If you are going to wait, there are two lines, the right one (as you are facing the shake shack counters) is serviced by 4 registers, the left by only three, so take right side line if crowded. It will move faster...trust me. Burgers are great, really great. Shakeago Dog is also good, but only as an addition...not a replacement for the burger.

Blue Smoke sells BBQ. I like the wings and pulled pork, but found ribs fatty and bland. Be sure you get your blue cheese if you get the wings. They forget some times.. Arrrggghhh!

That is a quick summary. 

There are your standard food stands as well, and the food is passable. My friend really likes the sausage and peppers sandwich which can be found at several places. There is a kosher hot dog place behind home plate on field level, but it was just okay.   

If I was choosing...and I was getting to park early...I'd get a shake shack double, vanilla shake, and fries from the Frites place with Blue Cheese sauce.

If I was still hungry, or if I got there later when it was crowded already, I'd get a the flounder sandwich or turkey sub from Mama's

Hey...you aren't going to be rooting for the Phils are you? If so, the only thing I can recommend is the cotton candy!

Terrific!  I think we're going to have a hoagie of some sort on the bus - so the burger and fries sounds wonderful.  Didn't know therre was a Shake Shack! 

I'm hoping it doesn't pour - but there's not much I can do about that.

The Shake Shack has the old city skyline from the old Shea scoreboard on top...can't miss it!

Here is menu for planning purposes. Not cheap, but not crazy when a dirty water dog is $5!

Tony - I didn't know HOW much food we were going to have on the bus trip (a giant Italian buffet - meatballs, sausage and peppers, antipasto) - so I didn't have room for a main course - but did go for the Frites.  I thought the fries were good and REALLY liked the blue cheese sauce.   Thanks for taking the time - and pictures!

Joe - great game.  Wild finish.  Most of the fans had no idea what happened in that final play - the first unassisted triple play to end a game in about EIGHTY years.  Glad we went - and the rain held off!

It is quite possible that Citi Field now offers the best food in the majors.  There is an incredibly broad range of options, and - for ballpark food - it is both of exceptional quality and not outrageously priced.

I have tried the burger and shake from Shake Shack, tastes the fish in the fish sandwich, and had a sausage and peppers sandwich, too.  One other thing that a buddy of mine ate was the pastrami-wrapped kosher hot dog from the kosher stand.  He raved about it.  He and his family have season tickets - and his plan is to eat his way around the stadium this year (he obviously doesn't go to every game...but, makes enough to give it a fair shot).

I went up there for Saturday's game. I went into the stadium as soon as the gates opened. I made a quick bathroom stop on my way to centerfield, but figured the line at Shake Shack couldn't be that bad yet. Boy was I wrong. I think every person who gets there early must go straight for that line. It was bigger than the Tony Luke's line here at the Philly ball park. I just couldn't bring myself to stand in line that long, especially when Blue Smoke was right next door and there was hardly any line at all there. I had the ribs and actually was quite happy with them. My friend had the pizza and also said it was far and away the best he's had at a ball park.

The line for the frites was about 10 minutes in the early innings.   The Shake Shack line was at least four times as long - maybe five or six.  They were open about two hours before the first pitch - and you'd probably have to get there at that time to avoid a long wait.  Obviously the place is a big hit!

Though we didn't eat much stadium food - we did notice that the prices were fairly reasonable - especially for being an NYC Ballpark! 

Beautiful park by the way - really clean and great views just about anywhere.

The ribs were good once, not good at all another time, so given the wealth of choices that have been consistently good, I haven't risked a 3rd attempt.

The Shake Shack line is especially bad on weekends.

Actually what I have is a very generous friend who has season tickets and an appetite like mine. It didn't take us long to eat our way through the menu!

My favorite feature of the new ballpark is the dozen or so free-standing booths emblazoned with the words:

 "BOTTLED BEER." 

They're all over the ballpark, you can see them on TV up in the outfield stands.  And what do they sell?  Nothing but cans.
