      Greetings, Mayor Al!

I am very sure, your truck is capable, to carry a lot of things around for you, but what about yourself, besides your wallet, your wristwatch, your IDs, etc.

      Sorry, what is a K-Bar...?

There is always a so called Talisman with me, I received in the year 1977, I do not like to tell you, what this Talisman is, it is a very personal item, I am carrying around for more than 30 years, wheresoever I am, like the famous "Lucky Penny".

      Kind regards from

      Michael

          Thanks, enginecapt!

A Combat/Fighting/Hunting Knife, very nice, I would prefer a Bowie-Knife, but not as my personal "companion".

What I have always with me, is my Organspendeausweis (Organ Donor Card), as a motorcyclist here in Europe, this card is a MUST. I was involved in to some very bad motorcylce accidents years ago, I received blood, other people donated, this saved my life, two times.

            Michael,
My K-Bar was issued to me in 1961 when I first arrived in Sunny Saigon. It is far more than a 'knife'. It is a very practical tool to keep in a vehicle !

On my person I limit my carry-on stuff to my Cell-phone, my car and tractor keys, and my wallet. My driver's license identifies me as a potential organ donor should it necessary to take pieces of me to save someone else.

I may have a pocket camera with me (somewhat like yours, or my larger digital SLR when they will be needed for a specific task.

I seldom go ANYWHERE without my truck, so I count the items in the truck as my immediate pocessions!

              Greetings, Al!

Thank you for your service in Vietnam, Al, Sir!

Besides all the stuff, like wallets, IDs, Cameras, there IS always something very special, like my Talisman, a christian symbol, a ladyfriend gave to me, more than 30 years ago...

I very often thougt about, to throw this Talisman from the 1970s away, but I never was able to do this. I am very superstitious, my destiny.

                water bottle(s)
-- I have a 3 liter one I reuse (rinsed out daily with vinegar, hot water & a few drops of Dawn dishsoap), and some 1 liter ones I reuse as well. How much water I bring depends on how long I am going to be gone, and availability of mass quantities of water where I am going. Hello All,
It may sound strange, but I carry nothing.
                  I don't even carry a wallet.  I have I.D. in my
                  car, but on my body...nothing.
I have a few dollars and some change in my
                  pocket.
I do try to have smile.
                  Take Care,

                    Field,

If you don't mind, I have to ask. Why do you not carry your ID on your person? I have often wondered, while watching "COPS" on TV why so many people do not carry ID or their Driver's License when they go out. I mean ordinary people.. not just the criminals on that show. In my college teaching I would often require the students to produce ID in order to take an exam, to prevent 'substitute' test takers from helping the students cheat on a test. My Econ classes were often over 50 students, so knowing them by sight and name in a 15 week term was more than I could handle without "proof' !! Many times the students would not have any ID at all, even though the requirement to show ID was repeated to them many times in the class sessions.
I am just curious as to why folks don't carry ID on their peraon??

                      Hello All.
mayor al, I am not a criminal, lol, except for a few folks here at Roadfood.
I just feel there is no reason to.  When I was growing up, you needed to
have I.D. to drive or buy beer.  My I.D. is in my car if cops need it, and I am
old enough that no one checks me when I buy my beer.  When I know I.D.
is going to be required, I bring it.  I am who I am, and have no need to
carry I.D. otherwise.  I am a so liberal that I do not understand the need
to prove your identity to any authority, unless you submit yourself to an
authority, like in your class where you required it.  I have no problems with
you doing that.  I would produce an I.D. if I was in your class because
I would be submitting myself to your rules out of choice.
If there is such a need for I.D.'s , everyone getting fingerprinted, genetic
material being taken to identify people, etc., for security purposes, ...and
many will agree this is necessary, especially after 9/11 episodes... I would
fight it until it became law.
I am too old and innocent in my heart.  It saddens me that you had to have
students produce I.D.'s.  AND I am not Blaming you for Doing that.  It is sad
that you had to do that.  I go on too long....

I have to have my ID with me at all times as I travel way too much.  Try to get through the airport without it.  My AMX card is also a necessity.  When you travel, you gotta pay someway.  I do not carry that much cash with me.

I have this little Soligen kit from Germany that is smaller than a credit card.  In it are a great pair of sissors, a tweezers and a nail file.  I added a Soligen nail clipper to the kit.  You can't argue with quality.

I usually have my small Pentex digital camera, my wallet, my phone and a little metal case that holds my credit cards.

I've had my wallet stolen so I keep the credit cards in a separate place.

I am never without baby wipes in my purse. Even though my grandgirls are 12 and 10 they still get messy and me too! They are great for wiping messy fingers and food when I "wear my lunch".

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were connected to the COPS 'targets' !  I grew up in the 'You must carry ID society! I think the Military drummed that into me and it stuck (bigtime!)  I mutter to myself (a lot) when my wife's son, a career Army Warrent Officer, says he lost his Military ID again. I cannot count the number of time that has happened to him in his 16 years in the Service, without running out of fingers to count on !  he is a smart kid, but does not have the "importance of carrying ID" impressed on him at all. I can't count the number of driver's licenses he has replaced over the years. !

So Field, my Friend, You are not alone !
I guess there are 'Carriers and Non-Carriers' !!

                                  Greetings!

Here in Germany the personal ID card is our Personalausweis.

                                  Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_document

We do not have to carry it with us, but if you ride a motorycycle, or you drive with a car, you have to carry your driver licence + your Personalausweis with you.

                                  Kind regards

                                      Greetings, Michael!

My swiss Victorinox pocket knife is one of the very best investments of my life, it features a lifetime warranty, a piece of art, and always a very helpful tool.

In earlier years, I used to carry a BUCK knife on my belt, the "Folding Hunter".

It was a present from my american friend "Monty", to my 30th birthday, back in the year 1986. Monty was a GI, stationed at a local american missile base. Monty was a phillipine-american, a biker, riding a HD Sportster, and a very nice person, to sorry, contact is lost.

Today, the Buck Folding Hunter is illegal to carry it around here in Germany, we have the very most strict weapon control law for blades and guns.

Many years ago, I used to carry a 9mm FN Browning "High Power" with me.

                                          http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Browning_HP

I was threatened very heavy back then, and the 9mm Browning, was my only chance, to survive the threat, my pistol was illegal, conc. to our german gun laws back then, but this pistol saved my life.

It was the first, and the very last time, I raised a weapon against other people, I did shot, in the wall, and in one moment, there was silence, no more threat.

Not very funny at all, but some folks learned a lesson, me too...

For the last 15 years or so I carry a cell phone. How the heck did we ever live without them?

Spare change, a 2.5" blade pocket knife, car keys, a wallet, a key wallet for locks other then the car. A comb, a pen, nail clippers, a Masonic Lodge penny and an asthma inhaler. A pistol whenever I go to a Presidential town hall meeting.

I haven't carried my wallet for years.  I keep it in the console of my car.  No  cc's in it though.

I carry my cell phone, my keys, and a two-sided money clip- one side for bills, one side for DL, debit card, one cc, insurance card, and speedy rewards card.

I don't leave the house without a tiny Leatherman Micra tool, a CMG LED task light (unfortunately no longer made) and the small size disposable BIC lighter.  It all comes in handy.

                                                      Greetings!

To carry a handgun, it is illegal, but who gives a ****, here in Germany, in the year 2009.

It just depends on the money, from  a .22CAL, to the the AR-47m, just a small step...

I carry a purse. Inside is my wallet, cell phone, EpiPen, face powder, a handkerchief, a small notebook with ink pen, a knitting project (usually socks), heart meds, fingernail file, mints and a case for my eyeglasses.

Three things I always take with me if I'm not carrying my purse, my EpiPen, asprin and my cell phone.
