One of the things I miss most about Yonkers, NY,  where I grew up, was the German potato salad found at Lorenzen's Deli on Yonkers Ave.

It was the most perfect one I ever ate.  I grew up on it like I did with NY pizza. It had no mayo - maybe vinegar with the slightest hint of sugar and lots of parsley  and it had a real tang to it which I guess was the vinegar.

Do you know what I am talking about Michael?

I was born in M√ľnchen / Munich (Bavaria) in the year 1956, but I grew up in northern Germany, I prefer the Kartoffelsalat with Mayo.

The image, you have posted, looks very much like a combination of Kartoffelsalat and Wurstsalat...

P.S. The Wurst in this salad is probably a "Krakauer" Wurst, a very popular Wurst here in Germany.

I guess it was not accurate because the one I am talking about had only a little crumbled bacon in it as far as meat content - the potatos did have a shiny gloss to them which I guess would have been the vinegar?
