'Tis the season for alcoholic cakes, I think. Here in England, we soak tons of rum and brandy into our christmas fruitcakes and while I was trawling for dessert cake recipes for the Christmas 'orphans' party I'm going to tomorrow, I came across this Torta di Zabaglione cake (http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/r_0000001089.asp) that is redolent of marsala wine and as fancy pants a dessert as I needed for this party.

What's your favourite alcoholic cake?

Had a single-serving-sized chocolate rum cake that the wife and I bought on Grand Cayman Island (on a carnival cruise stop), and it was wonderful.

I like a good Italian rum cake. Here in Philadelphia, with a sizable Italian population, there are many bakeries who make fine cakes.
