Are they related to any other sub chain?

Not that I am aware of---I read their home page and I think they are independent----seems they are owned and operated by a Jewish Company---even have a Jewish Sub department---a Reuben Sub for instance----subs served with a Kosher Pickle. Would you believe ?

Well, considering the fact that Moses originated the submarine sandwich back when he was scouting for a place to put down some stone tablets so he could fix himself a little lunch, it doesn't seem at all strange to me that there would be a sub served with a kosher pickle. And boy was that sub of his messy -- salami and all that stuff everywhere in his beard and sandals. I'm thinking it probably had a lot to do with that unleavened bread. You know how that stuff can just crumble when you take a bite.

I believe, he said tongue in cheek, actually that might a pretty good sandwich, with a shmear of mustard and the kosher dill, that the Sandwich was credited to the Earl of Sandwich. The Earl was a prodigous card player, but as happens, he got hungry while playing cards, which happens to me often while playing poker. So in order to prevent his hands from becoming greasy, he had his minions put slabs of meat between two pieces of bread, so that he could eat while playing cards, thereby not ruining the cards. This practice continues today in some cardrooms. In the wee hours of the morning, some cardrooms provide sandwiches to the players gratis. The practice, more common in days past, still continues today in some rooms.

Michael Hoffman I really don't believe that story, but if you say so I will give you the benefit of the doubt---after all, as JoeRoGo says, you were there. Has anyone ever been to Larry's, that is the question ?????

This chain flew under our radar; only a few words about this chain show up on a site search. People may have not realized it is a chain because it sounds like a single sandwich shop. I count 77 locations listed on their web site. They are exclusively in the southeast. http://larryssubs.com/

Hey, I wasn't there. I was busy scouting for a good place to camp. Hell, after than damned bush started burning I didn't want to be anywhere near the guy. I mean, would you want to hang around some guy with a couple of concrete tablets filled with suggestions?

The camp grounds were plainly marked on the maps given to all participants, if you had to scout you must not have been paying attention, Michael. As for the guy with the cement tablets he was last seen being balled out by Cecil B DeMille. Musta broke a tablet, or something. So now I found out that not only has no one ever gone to Larry's, but they flew under David's radar. So, David, where were you when Larry was flying under your radar ???

the ancient mariner So, David, where were you when Larry was flying under your radar ??? I was referring to the collective radar of all the folks here on RF. We have discussed Miami Subs, Subway, Jersey Mike's, Quiznos, Blimpie, Firehouse Subs, etc. but not Larry's.

theres one here in Daytona. I haven't tried it yet. I don't know what the Giant means might be bigger than a foot long. but it might have the same amount of meat as Subway. I was raised on Franklin Ave. GIANT Grinders in Hartford, CT. and they are GIANT.almost 2 feet long with over a pound of meat.

Procrastination is the theft of time. I am glad you are holding off, because I have no time to waste. But, one of these days Alice, one of these days, I will go see Larry and his Giant Sub. I have been aboard the Nautilus and assume it is larger than Larry's Sub----but juan never nose due juan. I hope a reservation is not necessary.

the ancient mariner I hope a reservation is not necessary. Unless things have changed over the years since I was aboard the Nautilus you don't need a reservation.

Ol' Jules was quite a story teller, wasn't he? The problem was you never knew whether to believe him or not. Going around the world in a submarine in 80 days is hard to imagine. They could never survive under the Arctic Ice ? Jules and that guy Welles must have gone to the same school.

That's just a lot of hot air, David Nevin and the little Mexican fella were in the Nautilus. They all lived in a yellow submarine 20,000 leagues under the sea. Jules was the captain.
