BBQ Parfait Art Work

No color yet but what do you creative types think about the letter style and wording?

I have two notes.  1.  I wouldn't use "delicious" to describe both the slaw and the cheese sauce.... How about "molten" for the cheese sauce?  And 2.  For the bbq sauce, how about, "The BBQ SAUCE you already love!"

But it looks great.  I love that you have the text on the scroll at the top.

Molten?  Like burn your lips off, lava-like molten?
 
You could substitute luscious for delicious.

Yes, molten.  Just like "Molten Chocolate Lava Cake."  I'd say this looks pretty good....

I decided I didn't like the banner, not sure why and now I'm not sure I like the differant colored text?

May have to try it.  I'll be in Springfield Tues. Nov. 24 and Weds. Nov. 25th with the family to the capitol and the Lincoln museum.

I can't get past the yellow sunshine background. It screams breakfast and there are too many similar tones  in the Parfait. I think blue skies would work much better.

The red is a better color, but the "A layer of our rich, delicious" is still hard to read.  I think the solution is to make the lower-case letters larger, the size that the word "smoked" is.  In order to do this, you might have to leave out some of the descriptive words using only:
"Rich, delicious" instead of "A layer of our rich, delicious" CHEESE SAUCE
"More cheddar" instead of "More creamy cheddar" CHEESE
"Creamy" instead of "Delicious, creamy" COLE SLAW
"BBQ SAUCE you love" instead of "The BBQ SAUCE you love"

 If you don't want to do this, the only other thing that might help would be to eliminate all the grey shadows behind the words, allowing the words to stand out more against the white and yellow backgrounds.

I like it Jack.  One point though.  Everything is creamy, delicious, rich, "signature item", somehting you love, etc..., EXCEPT your pulled pork, which is what you're known for.  Just my .02.  Just think you should showcase the Q. That is after all, what this is all about.

Artistic issues aside, can I say I don't like the idea of the top cheese layer? I'd like the slaw on top of the Q. One layer of cheese down with the beans would be fine.

You may say anything you'd like.

That said, I didn't ask that someone re-write my recipe I asked for members to offer their opinion on my choice of art work.

I'm an older set in my ways type guy that works his ass off to make good food. Furthermore I'm pretty open to sharing my success or failures with the group.

Most Roadfooders eat free at my place when the stop by and at worst if they order one item and I do charge I give them a taste of most everything on the menu.

But when it comes to my friends and some customers I'm pretty much a SOUP NAZI! So don't take this in a personal way, but when I re-write this list I stole from another vendor your comment may end up on it. LOL

this works pretty well. the big difference, as someone suggested was changing the color of the lower case fonts. the different colors didn't exactly make things hard to read but they caused a lot of distraction by lessening the unity of the message you were trying to convey. By going to slightly different shades of the same color group you maintain unity in the phrase,  build interest in the different items and make them fairly visible against the white blurb background. I'm assuming that except for the coleslaw this is going to be served hot. Now the only thing is that a lot of people like myself think of parfaits as always being a cold item. So the only thing I would do is add the word hot somewhere, maybe in front of the word meal in order to break any lingering confusion among some ignorant people ( like me ) that this is going to be served cold like the dessert. Overall this looks pretty good, more like the Dr. of BBQ Advertising.

You're getting your basic point across, which is what you want to do.  It doesn't require micro-management of marketing concepts or word placement.  It looks great the way it is and explains itself well.  If someone doesn't get it, they have bigger problems than deciding whether or not to order the BBQ parfait.

I don't think it is micro-management especially since it is put out there with the intentional intention of gathering opinions and feedback. I remind people to remind me to go easy on shades of purple and shades of sand.
 
The truck is yellow. The background is yellow. Many of the shades in the Parfait are yellow.

Bottom line is that people will see it, and should be able to understand it.  We're talking about a poster on a  BBQ stand, not an ad running in Time.  That's my opinion and feedback.

You don't do any sign unless it is the  best sign that you can attach to a product.. It is not exactly hard to think these things. People share their observations  on a topic. That is what we are here to do. You settle for something you do not like in business...you are stuck paying for it... and  looking at it  or it costs you more money and time to fix it when you end up looking at it and not liking.

Gotta agree that this isn't micro management, its creating sales for a new product and that takes more than just putting up a sign that says BBQ parfait. 

Even if the truck is yellow, this would probably still work well if its framed with a contrasting border, maybe purple or a shade of sand

I think the last iteration looks good.  It's not something you want to make look to slick, otherwise it doesn't go well with the local BBQ stand motif.

I'm not saying all of the suggestions are micromanagement, but some of them are. 
 
 

I always try to look at certain things as how would it look on a t-shirt so I don't start getting so slick I am try to incoporate the principle of Feng Shui as far as the specks on top.
 
I think it would look good on a t-shirt. Not a yellow t-shirt so the shades stand out better and the beans and pork do not appear with a somewhat greenish hue against the brighter yellow.

I think it's very nice.

The slanting of the adjectives bothers me for some unknown reason.

Just today had one of these. not to your spec's but wife and I liked it. 
 like the concept.
Wish we had brought the camera. Only one cheese layer.
Can see this for a lunch.

I jumped in a little late here....just thought I'd say I like the look of the last poster best, as well. Good job! The only suggestion I might make if your program allows it is to maybe make the beans and pork seem 'browner'? They almost look greenish to me. Could be just my monitor though. :-) I wish I was closer to you, so I could try it.
