Loud, noisy restaurants - Mon, 11/2/09 7:58 PM
Well I guess I can now add this to things that bother me in my old age. Saturday morning after enjoying a visit to the local farmers market I went to a local place for breakfast. I guess this place holds maybe 60 or so customers and is certainly not fancy. As I was by myself they asked me to sit at the counter which normally isn't where I'd sit by choice. I did take a seat at the counter and was elbow to elbow with others. As I got my coffee I started noticing how loud it was in there. Dishes clanging, orders being shouted, and all the myriad conversations going. I guess I could describe it as a cacophony. defined as a harsh discordance of sound. Well it was bothering me to the point that I only ate about half my breakfast. Funny as I don't recall this type of bothering me much in the past. Guess I better not go to a big city huh?

"If it's too loud you're too old" Just teasing, I know what you mean. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I don't mind it so much and actually enjoy the din but other times I'd like a little quiet and certainly a little space...especially after coming from something as peaceful as strolling the Farmers' Market on a nice Saturday morning.
