Hot Dog Brands
-
Wed, 11/4/09 6:35 PM
I've seen on a few forums and blogs of finding a list of different hot dog brands. I spent some time compiling such a list with links if one was available. If you know of any I missed, please let me know. Here is the list: " http://thegourmetchilidog.com/hotdogbrands_01.html

Old Neighborhood is a popular N/C frank in MA and NH. http://www.thinntrim.com/foodser_products.html There are several brands made by Kayem that are found throughout the northeast. Schonland's, Essem, Deutschmacher, McKenzie and Jordan's that come to mind.

Web site for Ferris Stahl-Meyer: http://stahlmeyer.com/history They have been around a long time. Their hot dog brands are Sweet Meadow and Stahl-Meyer. Their deli slicing beef bolonga and salami still has that strong garlic aroma that will permeate your refrigerator.

Thanks all I wish I had the time for a section for reviews. Anyone is welcome to post a brand with their review. When I see, or someone tells me about a new brand, I'll add it to the list. It's now at 80 brands

This place doesn't have a web site, and now that they closed their Ridgewood Queens location a couple of years back, is a one store operation, so not sure if they fit your bill...but they make a great hot dog!

Forest Pork Store does a lot of wholesale, and their franks are sold by a lot of independent meat markets, and other food stores in the NYC metro area. The Ridgewood store, now used for manufacturing, used to have a sign in the window saying you could call in an order to Huntington for pickup at Ridgewood, but not sure if that option is still available.

The Hot Brands page has been updated. It now has over 78 different brands. I would like to add the local butcher shop that make their own hot dogs. Hot Dog Brands

A couple weeks ago I deleted my Hot Dog Brand page off of my website www.HotDogShops.com it was the least viewed page on my site so I made it a Hot Dog Shop Sign page with photo's of hot dog shops signage. I had a lot of brands on that page I could have shared with you.

Hotdoggintheus It is a shame you deleted the list and didn't save any hard copy of the hot dog brands. I'm getting a great response on my site: Hot Dog Brands If you find anything that could help it would be appreciated. I would like to add your link to my site, so our hot dog lovers could inhale additional knowledge about hot dogs. John

Maple Leaf dogs produced by Maple Leaf Meat Products of Salem Mass. An old family brand now manufactured for the family to their recipe at the old Schonland's factory by Kayem, and which have been around for 62 years. No website I can find but if you search the site you will find a group that worships and seeks them. I sell them from my trailer in Rochester NH...

catnhatuh Is the name of the brand you sell still Maple Leaf? If not what's the name you use? Where do you buy the hot dogs from? What's the name and address of your trailer?

Thanks Dave I've added them to the webpage. There are two different stores. Are they both butcher shops and do they serve them hot on their premise.

John- My trailer is the Mustang Grille at Skyhaven Airport on Rte 108 in Rochester NH. Maple Leaf dogs are available thru the semi local Market Basket chain and the local IGA. They are still called Maple Leaf and I have mine delivered direct by the owner of the family run business, Steve Davidovich who can be reached at 978-740-9790. For anyone desparate to try one I must warn my trailer is now closed til April of next year...

Schwarz hot dogs from San Francisco are excellent dogs. They've been in business for almost 100 years and the quality is top notch. Englehart Gourmet has recently purchased them, but the quality has not changed. Englehart also makes Aidells' sausages and a few other companies dogs. The old fashioned 100% beef dog with a casing will stand up against any dog in the country. I've had many skeptical new yorkers try one and they are almost all converts. Jstang

Lived in CT & MA for several years. Got to liking Muckes skinless dogs. A good tasty quality dog. Anyone know how I can get them in bulk to Alabama?
