BBQ Pitmasters on TLC (Reality TV Show)

Did anyone watch it? It's a new show that just aired Thursday. I really liked it. I wrote up a bit on it here:

I really like the people they chose to follow. Sometimes with reality shows I just don't mesh with the characters, especially on the first episode but I really like watching all of these guys (and gal :P).

I know there are tons of cooking shows and reality shows but this new one is actually good, at least I think so.

I TIVO'ed it and have watched the 1st 15 minutes or so.

What'd you think of it?

I watched it w/ my wife.  We've had thoughts of attending Memphis in May or a similar event.  This program really turned-off my wife, especially Myron Mixon and the brash "rookie" from Texas.

Something about "attitude" that turns me off.

There's something refreshingly real and at the same time off-putting about the show that I watched a bit of yesterday. One guy refuses to wake up and tend to his fire, and another says he doesn't even like the ribs he cooks up for competition ...

Tells us more than maybe we should ever really want to know about any kind of food competition - they all morph over time into parodies of their original intention to discover the best of the best in food.

I didn't care too much for the show. I don't plan on watching much more.

MikeS. what didn't you like about it? Were Myron and Paul too cocky and profane?

I wonder if there could be a law issue showing the "drunk" guy or refering to him as such?
