An important distinction:

"This should not be confused with the already-available Dublin Dr Pepper . It seems that this new Retro/Heritage product is more akin to a mainstream Pepsi Throwback-type release, and will actually be available "through Pepsi" (their words, interpret as you may)."

How do they have a diet throwback? I thought the whole thing was using pure cane sugar?

The sugar/diet question is interesting !!!

I tried one of the Cherry Dr Peppers recently and like it better than either Cherry Coke or Wild Cherry Pepsi! It doesn't measure up to SPRECHERS CHERRY COLA though.

mayor al, I didn't realize Sprechers had a Cherry Cola! I find that all of the cherry sodas have a funky taste to them...not quite an aftertaste up right before that. Did you ever try the Pepsi Jazz? It's kind of like that to me.

Yeah, I didn't much care for the Pepsi 'Jazz'.
The Sprecher's Cherry Cola is quite good. Sold in the 16 oz glass bottles (same appearance as their Root Beer, it uses Honey and "Door County (WI) Cherries in the recipe. It has an aftertaste, but a pleasant honey-like one.  It is my favorite soda of all.
Here's a link to the Sprecher's mail-order site. You can see they have an interesting variety of flavors available.

I'll have to keep an eye out for this. I thought the Pepsi Throwback was good, picked up a 12 pack while in Kentucky for Christmas, we can't get it down in SC anymore. But I like Dr. Pepper more than Pepsi these days, so I hope this is good.

There is no diet Throwback or Heritage product. Also the ingrediants list sugar, not cane sugar.
The Heritage Dr Pepper is only available in areas where the local Pepsi bottler/distributor has the rights for Dr Pepper. If Coca Cola has the franchise rights to Dr Pepper in your area you will not find Heritage Dr Pepper.

Which of course rules out the NYC metro area...

At least the NY Pepsi bottler got with the Heritage Pepsi program this time around - picked up a 12 pk of both Pepsi and Mt Dew today!

Fortunately, am only 20 miles from the NY/PA border, and I believe the Pepsi bottler in PA handles Dr Pepper......they carried the Heritage Pepsi the last time around......
