The Numero Uno chain still exists in SoCal, but its quality certainly isn't what y'all remember from the 70s. Today's pizza is adequate, but not memorable. One of the problems with it is that it now combines the clean sweet taste of the traditional chunky canned italian tomatoes with a plebian, over-seasoned tomato sauce containing too much of a pre-packaged taste. (What's the source of that "processed" flavor: MSG? Onion powder? I'm not sure, but it overwhelms all other flavors in the pie, and repeats on me with an unpleasant aftertaste.)
Anyway, here's another example of the memory being far superior to the current reality.
