Travels & Traditions in Spfld IL

This coming Saturday (April 3) at 2pm CDT Wisconsin Public Television will be showing an episode of "Burt Wolf: Travels & Traditions" that was recorded in Springfield, Illinois. I don't know any other details but I think it's reasonable to expect to see the Cozy Dog and/or Joe Rogers'. As PBS schedules vary across the country it's best to check your local listings. Brad

There was an article in The Wall Street Journal today about Springfield and Horseshoe sandwiches.

It was a pretty interesting episode but because it covered subjects other than food it didn't really go into a lot of depth. The Cozy Drive In, Mel-O-Cream and Donley's Maid-Rite received the most coverage with Joe Rogers', Coney Island, Jungle Jim's, and Maldaner's getting mentioned in some form. The Route 66 segment featured Burt cruising around in a '69 442 convertible. I wonder how nervous the owner got when Burt would occasionally look into the camera and away from the road... Brad
