I stumbled upon this brief review of a new hot dog creation (new to me, anyway) at the Eden Wok in NYC (a play on Eden Roc?).  If they use a decent hot dog, I would bet that it is pretty good with some hot chinese mustard.

Debate??  I always mix them with some soy sauce to acheive a perfect balance of hot, sweet and salty.  Love it!

Looks like it might be good. I'd try it, but with mustard; not duck sauce.

Be good also, if it was wrapped with onions before deep frying.

Chang Chi, a former Kosher Chinese restaurant in Chicago, served hot dog egg rolls, back in the 70's. The egg roll was filled with a Kosher hot dog, lightly slathered with crunchy peanut butter. We dipped them in hot mustard and a mixture of sweet and sour sauce to cut the heat. A few places in southeastern Wisconsin serve Reuben rolls, an egg roll filled with corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut, dipped into a thousand island sauce. Wegner's St. Martin's Inn in Franklin, WI still offers Reuben rolls, along with Reuben soup.

CSD I don't know if you noticed in the article, but Eden Wok is kosher Chinese.  This is beginning to sound like an old-time kosher Chinese invention that was "rediscovered" by the blogger.

We can get the Reuben rolls way up here in Rhinelander, Wisconsin as well....along with a Reuben pizza!

MD,

My best friend Joel was the owner of Chang Chi. It was a successful, short lived business that burned and was never rebuilt. It was nice to see that kosher Chinese still exists.

seatwown,

I'm in Vilas County at least six times a year.  What's the name of the restaurant in Rhinelander serving Reuben rolls and pizza?

Thanks,

CSD
