Well, the previous post was a year ago!

This list won't be very helpful because I can't remember the names of some of the places. I am not even sure I can come up with 10. But here goes, and in no particular order:

Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg, TN

Copper Kettle, Gatlinburg. Probably the best I've ever had.

Some place in Myrtle Beach, SC. They were fine!

Original Pancake House in Denver

A little German cafe in Breeze, (sp?)Ill. It was in 1972 and I was just a sprout. They were made with sour cream and divine. My mother still talks about those pancakes.

Jay's Family Restaurant, Nashville, TN. On a good day, these are fabulous. Unfortunately, you never know who is cooking on a given day. But the French toast is always good.

Athens Family Restaurant, Nashville. This Greek neighborhood restaurant is known for their breakfast. I like their pancakes better than Pancake Pantry's, and their home fries take potatoes to the next level!

This one may surprise you: Golden Corral, which has a breakfast bar, has delicious pancakes--way better than the IHOP in my small Georgia town. They are light, fluffy, and golden brown.

The Tourway Inn Pancake House in Florence, AL. This was my college hangout. The pecan pancakes were and still are scrumptious!

Only nine. Anyone want to share secrets for making good ones at home? Mine need help!

Been to Deleon Springs in Central Florida for their pancakes. Warning! Don't go in the summer..It is hot as hell (no a/c) and the flies are all over you. The pancakes are just ok with the hook being you make your own..Who needs that? The griddle is so hot in the summer, you literally sweat while making your own pancakes. sorry, I just don't get it.

The best pancakes I've ever had are actually sort of crepes and they are at Pamela's in Pittsburgh..they are absolutely wonderful. So incredibly rich with a unique crisp texture. Then comes Pancake Pantry in Nashville...Very, very good. Next is the Village Inns (a chain out of California) that whips up their buttermilk pancake batter in a malted milk mixer. Finally, The Original Pancake House chain out of Oregon. I love their 49'er pancakes. Of all these, this chain really has done a good job in specializing in making a variety of top quality pancakes. Their pancakes are not cheap, but the quality is excellent.

As far as IHOP goes, I love their Cream of Wheat pancakes, but since I got the recipe, I make them myself. They charge $6 which is not cheap. If you have never tried them, give them a shot. They are really good. I do not like the rest of their pancake varities.

Baah Ben-if you see this, I would love to get the Cream of Wheat pancake recipe. I didn't know IHOP still had them. Can you post it, or tell where you got it?

Cream of Wheat Pancakes
1-1/4 c flour
1/3 c Instant Cream of Wheat
2 c buttermilk (whole-not 1%)
1 egg
1/3 c sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cap vanilla
1/4 c veg oil

while I agree with PJ's (as much for the athmosphere as the Pancakes), Both Dock Mikes and Georges in Cape May have better (and cheaper) pancakes than Uncle Bills.
