National Hot Dog Day Wednesday, July 21st

Wednesday, July 21st is National Hot Dog Day. Celebrate with a hot dog at your favorite stand or cart. Those who happen to be in Chicago, I'll be serving Tijuana bacon dogs for lunch. Yum!

Thursday

Crisp Hickory Smoked Bacon Wrapped Dog topped with fresh Sweet Corn Relish on a Clasen's Hard Roll

Hot Dog Topped with House-made Baked Beans, Hickory Smoked Bacon and Diced Sweet Onion on a Clasen's Hard Roll

I'll bettcha most of the Hot Dog Vendors out there won't even know it's National Hot Dog Day! (Unless they're Roadfooders). If your Vendor doesn't know it's Hot Dog Day, are you still going to give him the flowers??

Vendors probably dont know about it because there are conflicting dates. Not only have I seen July 21, 2010 but I have also seen July 23, 2010 as National Hot Dog Day. National Hot Dog Day last year was July 22, 2009.  Best bet would be to have a hot dog everyday of the year to celebrate..I would.

That would be like 109,500,000,000 hot dogs per year!

you know, some websites had National Hot Dog day on Friday the 23rd.  Not sure how they come up with the day but as a vendor, I'd prefer the day to fall on a saturday.  That way, I could promote it better.  you cant bring your family down on a wednesday afternnon.  most people are working.

The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council Kicks Off National Hot Dog Month. The NHD&SC does not specify one particular day in July as National Hot Dog Day. They promote the whole month! Good Marketing! Therefore, you can make any day in July your National Hot Dog Day!

On a sad note -The NHD&SC reports that an astonishing 23% of Americans put ketchup on their Hot Dog! They don't know what they don't know!
