Here's a story about a woman who has been waiting tables at the historic Red Brick Tavern in Lafayette, Ohio for 63 years.

Any truth to the rumor that on her first day she was the server at your 50th birthday party?

Nope. Barbara Hauer was the server for that one. At least at my table. That was just a few days before her wedding. You might have heard of her under her married name, Fritchie. Barbara Fritchie.

Was she as good  waiting on your  table as she  was waving the  flag?

We used to go to the Red Brick Tavern every now and then and had some great steaks.  The last time we went was a couple of years ago and service was incredibly slow and in a party of 6, every steak was cooked poorly or cold.  Not worth the drive out there for that.

The Travelin Man just texted me to inquire, "a waitress for 63 years?? I bet her tips are low. Real low."

Oh, she was fantastic. And she gave lap dances, too.

I've never eaten there. I've stopped for drinks several times, though. The last time I went by I was heading home from Crabill's in Urbana, and it looked as if it was closed. When I got home I called, out of curiosity. They were open.
