Mexican Pepsi - Mon, 05/30/11 6:02 PM

I was at Wegman's in Erie, PA yesterday, and they had Mexican Pepsi! The bottle had the late 80's-early 90's logo. I picked up 12, and think they destroy Mexican Coke. Much better than the throwbacks too.

Only thing here I have seen around San Antonio is the mexican cokes.
Haven't seen mexican Pepsi yet.And many of the stores here carry mexican sodas from Jarillito I believe is the brand name.

I buy both Mexican Coke and Pepsi 12 oz 24 per case for $17.79. They also sell the Coke in 16 oz botles for 19.59 at Restaurant Depot in Ft Worth. I drink Coke and my wife drinks Pepsi.

How do know what to look for? does it say Mexican pepsi or coke? Also someone above said it was nearly $18 for 24 12oz. At two 12 packs for $5 for the regular stuff it would really have to stand out for me to buy it.

It comes in glass bottles with a white label that lists sugar in the ingredients, then next to the coke or pepsi label it says hechio en mexico and nonretornable. on the label it says refresco and 355 mls. neither tastes like American soda, one taste will bring you back to the taste of pre 80's colas.

Also if you don't want to buy it by the case, most mexican grocery stores like fiesta sell mexican coke for 99 cents a bottle.

Read the labels. The Mexican is made with sugar, the US version is corn syrup or something other than sugar.

Are you sure this is specifically "Mexican" Pepsi, or is it simply Pepsi Throwback, which is a limited edition version of American Pepsi using real sugar, and the old can design?

I like that too. Has the same "texture" as Coke, while regular Pepsi is like liquid candy, or like grape soda.

As for Mexican soda, I still have the thick steel can to the 7UP I got from Tijuana in '89. (Seemed to taste pretty much the same from what I remember).

It's Mexican Pepsi, glass bottle and all. I do like the throwbacks too though.

Still haven't found it though I've only tried the major chain stores, Publix, Winn Dixie, Albertson's. I'll try the Latin market chain called Bravo. They have the #500 lbs bags of rice so maybe there's a chance.
