Elliston Place Soda Shop closing

This place has been a part of Nashville for years. It's not my favorite, but I hate to see a place with this much history close.

I agree, lots of history but other than the Lemon Ice Box pie, I wasn't impressed with what I had when I visited 6 years ago.

I never made it in there but it sure looked the part.

I think Elliston Place Soda Shop's best years were in the rear view mirror.  I went - the people were friendly enough, the food was OK...and, yes, it looked the part.....but, it was just....meh.
 
My gut observation was that the interior had some disrepair, as well.  In this world, there are places that are "historic" and some that are just "old."  Maybe my perception was skewed, but this place just seemed old.....and, maybe tired.

Wow, I'm so sad to hear this, because I had many wonderful meals and shakes there in the late '80s and early '90s during my Nashville days.  I hope they can find a suitable new location.  What a legendary place. 

And I was just as disappointed when Candyland closed.

I liked the place when I ate there and i am sad to hear of its closing.
