Pennsylvania Doughnut Question - Wed, 08/10/11 9:32 AM

Years ago, there was mentioned on this site a

doughnut place in the Keystone State (I believe

south of either Pittsburgh or State College) that

was touted as a culinary mecca and by which people

would go out of there way to pick-up the baked

goods at this particular establishment.

Sorry to be so generic but can anyone help

me re-identify this RoadFood destination?

Western PA isn't exactly known for their doughnuts, but could the place you are thinking of be Oram's in Beaver Falls?  The doughnuts and especially the cinnamon rolls are so popular, they can be completely sold out by 10:00AM.  In fact, if I want cinnamon rolls, I will call ahead the day before to reserve them.

I do believe that's it. (I also believe that I need a remedial course in geography as I know that Beaver Falls is not south of either Pittsburgh or State College but actually north of the former.)

Thanks, buffetbuster. I just sent you a pm about the same.

If you're in Lancaster Co. try Sunnyside Bakery. Great donuts, stickybuns and bread baked by Amish. Open Thursday thru Saturday only.

The famous market in downtown Lancaster has a vendor that makes the best cake doughnuts with powdered sugar. They are a white blizzard that is worth the mess!
