Wow, Mar.  It actually sounds tasty, but that's a lot of ingredients to have around.  I'd probably just get a green smoothie at Trader Joe's.

Someone appears to have eaten the rest of the enchiladas.  My dinner now is: yogurt, a few pieces of extra-sharp cheddar cheese on Club crackers, an English muffin, and some canned peaches. I want bigos!

After waiting until 8:30 at my folks for a meal that Could have been outstanding (chuck roast, roast potatoes, carrots, turnips)
I knew that it would have at least a 75% probability of failure. Turns out dad's wife got tired of watching it when she was browning and sat down to watch a bit of tv only to return to a thick black crust on the bottom, no worries, it just got a Little dark she says.
So later in go all the veggies to cook in this charcoal stew.
I pronounce that the meal is uneatable. It tastes of charcoal, there are crispy bits of black throughout and it has absolutely no seasoning, she says she forgot to season it, but should still be good.
I declined dinner and went home and had a very satisfying mortadella, salami & provolone sandwich with a diet pepsi.

L2B...  My typical green smoothie is usually just orange, lime, pineapple and spinach.  I was adding stuff that was nearing the end of its life.

El Pollo Loco, #3.

Half chicken with 2 sides which were cole slaw and pinto beans.

I ordered the half chicken thinking I'd have left overs for tomorrow.  Wrong!

Aha, Mar--that smoothie ingredient list sounds much more manageable!

I had chicken for dinner, too--honey and spice glazed.  I liked this recipe so much I'm copying it below for anyone interested.

Spicy Honey-Brushed Chicken Thighs

One of the most popular Cooking Light chicken recipes, these sweet and spicy grilled chicken thighs are flavored with chili powder, cumin, garlic and cider vinegar.
Cooking Light MARCH 2007
Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 2 chicken thighs)

Ingredients

2 teaspoons garlic powder (I cut back on this)
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper (I cut back on this)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs
Cooking spray
6 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons cider vinegar

Preheat broiler.
Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl. Add chicken to bowl; toss to coat. Place chicken on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Broil chicken 5 minutes on each side.
Combine honey and vinegar in a small bowl, stirring well. Remove chicken from oven; brush 1/4 cup honey mixture on chicken. Broil 1 minute. Remove chicken from oven and turn over. Brush chicken with remaining honey mixture. Broil 1 additional minute or until chicken is done.

Last night I made a French mussel bisque that I saw Ina Garten make on one of her shows over the weekend. I looked up the recipe and realized I only needed mussels to make it. It was really easy to make and delicious!

A four-way......CHILI?

Spaghetti (cooked till very soft), Cincinnati chili (which is Greek meat sauce, not chili), chopped onions, and all topped with shredded very mild cheddar-colored cheese. Oh, and of course sprinkled (by me) with hot sauce.

Can I come, too? I'll wash dishes.

Tonight when I get home from work I'll get to eat the pot roast I put in the oven this afternoon. Assuming my mother managed to pull it out of the oven at the right time and make gravy. Nothing quite like pot roast at midnight.

Last night it was just a couple of hot dogs with Stadium mustard and pickle relish, prepared and consumed at halftime of the Ohio State-Wisconsin game. lleechef made herself some chile-flavored meat and beans, which, I admit was quite tasty (I sneaked a spoonful).

My husband, who is not feeling too well lately said he would love some seafood soup, chowder  or stew for last night. I made a seafood chowder for him. I used cod, fresh clams, scallops and some of the frozen, head on, Gulf shrimp that we had left from what I ordered from Cajun Grocer. It came out so good and "hit" his spot.

OH WOW!  That sounds so much better than chicken soup.

I had a salad accompanied by apple slice sprinkled with Tajin.

(For lunch I had a corned beef sandwich so I was balancing)

Cleaning out the freezer so I defrosted "Manager's Special" pork chops.  That means that they were half price because the sell by date is tomorrow.... or when I bought them.

Mar - I'm always looking up new things I hear about from you.  Today it's Tajin, and it sounds very good!  I can't quite envision it on an apple slice, but I'd try it.

l2b, it's great!  I also sprinkled it on the corn.  Better on the apple.  The citrus and chili team up great with fruit.

Seafood chowder sounds amazing! I'm sick, too...can I get a to-go order?

Today we had a family birthday party: Grilled chicken with homemade BBQ sauce, steamed broccoli, potato salad, baked beans, skewers with ham-cheddar-green olives, and four kinds of bread (lemon-poppyseed, pistachio, apple, and banana-walnut). And a chocolate/vanilla/cookie crumble ice cream cake for dessert. I took no pictures. Of anything. Including my niece and nephew, whose birthdays we were celebrating.

I wish I could send you some felix! Tonight in keeping with the low carb theme I made him stuffed peppers filled with sausage, onion, garlic, chopped yellow squash and chopped fresh spinach. I sprinkled them with some grated aged cheddar, covered them with foil and baked at 375 for 45 minutes. I then took the foil off and sprinkled them with grated smoked mozzarella. He proclaimed them delicious!

Last night was clean out night:

I was in the mood for some Fette Alfredo, so I made a roux and then added some chicken stock and parm cheese.

I poached 4 chicken breasts in stock with S&P & poultry seasoning.
Cut them into bite size pieces, and added them to the alfredo.

Looked a little one dimensional color wise so I looked in the freezer and ther was a partial bad of corn, another of green beans so I nuked them a little and added them to the alfredo.

Still a little monochromatic, so i opened the cabinet and there was a can of red gold diced tomatoes, so I opened them drained them off and added them also.

All in all what started out as a simple pasta fix ended up being a bowl full of yumminess that has lasted 2 days and the last will be et tonight.

Agnes - I love Cajun Grocer!!!!!

http://www.cajungrocer.com/

They are on my speed dial and bookmarked, when I call to place an order it is like walking into "Cheers".

They have a wonderful crawfish fettucini that is not cheap $18 for a 2 pound loaf pan, but OMG is it good.

I have gotten turducken, seasonings, boudin and andouille from them plus a bunch of other things over the years

Dinner tonight was braciole and penne at Scali Ristorante in Reynoldsburg, Ohio with Poverty Pete, who is in town with Rascal Flats. Poverty and lleechef started with bruschetta topped with  tomato, basil, garlic, Romano cheese and olive oil, and all three of us ordered the braciole, which was stuffed with salami, capicola, Romano, mozzarella and provolone. The wine was a Tedeschi San Rocca Valpolicella. Dinner was terrific, and it's always great to get together with Steve.

Well, I had a busy "cooking" weekend! I am trying to keep what I make as low carb as possible to try to help my husband get his blood sugar under control. He is on some new meds so I will help by making some tasty low carb dishes for him. Saturday I made teriyaki marinated chicken along with various vegetables and Sunday I made Sauerbraten in my crock pot for use this week and I roasted a lamb loin for Sunday dinner.
I also made some oven roasted acorn squash with olive oil and sage(from my garden). It came out so good!

I had jury duty today but was able to get out early enough to make my husband dinner. I made a haddock filet wrapped in prosciutto which I saw Ina Garten do on a recent show. I served it with sautéed baby spinach and sliced baby beets. He said it was delicious! I love the challenge of coming up with low carb options for him that are tasty enough that he won't miss the carbs so much!
Actually easier for him than me! He grew up in Louisiana and ate rice at almost every meal! That's really the only thing he misses. I, on the other hand, would definitely miss pasta and potatoes along with rice!
I love coming up with tasty things for him to enjoy!

Agnes have you tried Cauliflower rice?  There are several recipes on the internet.  I have never tried it but I was thinking about giving it a try.  Some suggest a ricer and I have seen you can use a grater to get the correct texture.

I made Rutabaga Hash browns last week for breakfast and they were wonderful.   Did not even miss the potatoes. But I went to 4 stores around here to find the Rutabaga!

Agnes, I'm right there with you...mom can't have carbs either (her doctor gave her a dinner goal of 25g or less per plate). How sad that he can't eat cauliflower, though! I use it a lot instead of potatoes or rice. The mashed cauliflower alternative to mashed potatoes didn't work for us at all texture-wise, but pretty much everything else works.

That said, she wasn't here for dinner. So I ate a frozen pizza. It's my first day off in about 150 years, and I had no interest in standing up long enough to actually cook.

Last night lleechef's mother was here for dinner and a birthday celebration. lleechef made her mother's favorite, gnocchi baked with a Bolognese sauce. She also served hot Italian sausage and tomato salad with artichokes and olives for her mother and caprese salads for us.

Tonight was a casserole with ground turkey, whole wheat rotini, kidney beans and black olives in red sauce.

Ever since CC posted a photo of some delicious looking Italian sandwich (on What's for Lunch), I've been looking for something similar around here, with little success.  I had half of this sandwich, which was tasty, but for sure doesn't measure up.  Might have to get to SF's Italian neighborhood to get something that good.

You know that when I say stuff like...I look at that it reminds me of a Mexican blanket I really do (honest to God) mean "wow! that sorta looks like a pretty Mexican blanket."

The filling looks good to me.  Very good!

Not sure about the bread.  Looks dry.

I had a sushi bowl AKA chirashi or chilashi or something like that.

Rice topped with spicy tuna, tamago, cucumber, avocado, mayonnaise spiced with I believe chili oil and Ponzo sauce.

Its finally fall here in Milwaukee( 50s and rainy-leaves falling) so last night was homemade chicken dumpling soup, grilled cheese, and for me, acorn squash baked with butter, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

Everything looks amazing, Agnes, and I want all of it! Instead, I'll more than likely end up with Steak & Shake on my way home from work.

How can I post anything after Agnes?

Tonight I seared steaks in a cast iron skillet and served them with German potato salad.
