The kitschy, forest-themed Clifton's Brookdale cafeteria will get a new kitchen and several other upgrades, says developer Andrew Meieran, who also founded the Edison nightclub.

Clifton's Brookdale cafeteria, a downtown Los Angeles landmark since the 1930s, will close for three to six months during a $3-million rehabilitation by the new owner.

You are correct.  You were very tactful in your correction.  Maybe Hillary Clifton should give you a job in the diplomatic corps.

Well, at least that administration would be giving a job to someone.

A closure update received from Clifton's via email today, 2/2/2012:
 
"Mr. ______, our cafeteria and bakery are currently closed for remodeling, we should reopen in about 6-9 months.  We are only open on the second Thursday of each month for Artwalk, we have an art gallery and a bar, but no food."

Not having been to Los Angeles since 2004, I am long overdue for a visit.  But, Clifton's is at the top of the list of restaurants I want to visit, so it looks like I will be waiting until they reopen.  How many times has this place closed and reopened now? 

In 1956 my mother and grandmothers took me on a cross-country train trip to visit Disneyland and the Grand Canyon.  Clifton's Pacific Seas was "on their list".  WOW!
