Lots of places advertise as having "old-fashioned" burgers, and when you try them, you find that the term has lost all meaning (sort of like "premium" or "quality").

L.C.'s makes no such claim, but if it did, it would be completely earned.  Their burgers are a time-warp, to back when heart disease was barely acknowledged or understood.  The fatty, greasy goodness bombs your tastebuds and then flows through you, satisfying you, killing you.  Since discovering this place up in the KC northland, I haven't been able to bring myself to visit a burger chain. I swear it's not snobbery. It's conscience!

There's other stuff on their menu - hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, an Italian steak sandwich - but really, deviating from their core product is the act of a crazy person.

Thanks for the tip Ketteract.  Do you have an address for this place?  The only "LC's" I'm aware of in KC is LC's BBQ down on Blue Parkway.

Nice work Don.  I can tell you, it doesn't look anything like LC's BBQ!

Buddy, There's no connection between the two LC's. LC's Hamburgers is right off l-29, about 5 or 6 minutes south of MCI. Very convenient!

zataar,

Does your opinion of LC's Burgers match that of Ketteract?

Buddy,

My opinion does match that of Ketteract. I'm going to be up that way tomorrow, so....maybe I should stop by! It's been a while.

Unless you find a reason to change your opinion, it sounds like we've got a new place to add to our list when we come down for our annual Christmas trip.

Now that I can post pics, I thought I'd update this thread with a couple of pics I took when I was still in KC.

Double cheeseburger with grilled onions.  As greasy and delicious as it looks. The bun's a bit squished because they put the burger upside-down in the box for some reason:

Gorgeous onion rings:

That is a nice looking Burger!  I can't believe I forget about this place every time I'm back in town.  I need to compile an ongoing list of places that gets updated as soon as I learn about something new.

Wouldn't have mattered much last Xmas, anyway.  I came down with some kind of stomach bug that hit the whole city.  Laid me up for the last three-four days of the trip.  I was just healthy enough for the drive home and a quick stop at Winstead's in Blue Springs on the way out of town.
