If given the choice of fancy European Chocolates or a Hershey Bar or Kisses, I'll take the Hershey's.

I like dark or milk chocolate See's over Godiva or any other US or European made mix.

I'll eat white chocolate, but it's not my first choice.

Which/What are your favorite chocolates... if you like chocolate.

I have a preference for white chocolate. Even at Easter, I prefer a white chocolate bunny. I do like European chocolates. I like Lindt and also Toberlone. They are my indulgent treat.

There are plenty of cheap chocolates out there and I would just as soon have none as to have a cheap chocolate.

See's Nuts & Chews assortment is stellar.  If the all-dark assortment is available it is even better.

I used to love Cadbury's bars I got in Scotland in the 60's.  Now that they are Hershey's they are just not the same.
I do like Lindt truffles

I'm a chocolate snob. Sorry, mar52, I hate white chocolate. It's not really chocolate. When I was little, my mom & her sisters would make white chocolate covered pretzels, and I might have one of those, if & only if they're homemade. But probably not.

Hershey's changed their formula. Never liked them much anyway. I much prefer Ghirardelli's little squares. I hide them in my desk for chocolate emergencies at work. The darker the better!!!

and for something totally different, Russell Stover's has a French Chocolate Mint bar that is awesome. It melts in your mouth.

I cannot stand Hershey bars.Never could. I cannot stand white chocolate-whats the point????? I have always, as a young girl, preferred dark chocolate. As JRPfeff said, See's has a great dark chocolate mixed box. Bought 4 of them while on the west coast.........

I worked with a girl from L.A. & she would always bring See's back with her when she went home. :)

When I was a kid in California, quality boxed chocolate was always about See's Candies. The other brands, such as Whitman's and Russell Stover, never came close. I haven't had See's in years, but most other brands still seem lacking to me. One exception is Jacques Torres chocolates which I had in NYC a couple of years ago--truly delicious. Another exception are some truffles and chocolates I had in Madrid a few years back. But for the most part, I guess I've hit a chocolate wall.

I never did care much for most chocolate bars; even Ghirardelli has never wowed me. When I was a kid I liked rice chocolate bars like Krackel, but recently the only chocolate bars I've enjoyed are the Vosges bars--more for the flavorings than for the chocolate itself--and some Icelandic chocolate bars I've used for baking.

When I was a kid, white chocolate became something of a trend item, but I never really cared for it. Nowadays, if I have chocolate, I prefer an occasional cup of hot cocoa. I rarely care for chocolate in candy, though I do like dark chocolate-covered orange peel and ginger.

if you have a chance please read the book:
 The Emperors of Chocolate
Inside the Secret World of Hershey and Mars
they talk about the spoiled milk taste that every one in this country thinks is good chocolate. lot of great stories about 3 muskateers and other stories. Milton Hershey took real good care of the workers back then

Ann - See's has retail outlets in the terminals at the Phoenix airport.  Much willpower is required whenever I fly home.

See's is wonderful.  Even some of their white chocolate covered truffles are good if I can't get the real thing.

When Warren Buffet bought the company I cringed, but he's smart and didn't change a thing in the manufacturing.

I like Ghirardelli's little dark chocolate mint squares.
Russell Stover's French Chocolate Mint bar melts in your mouth leaving a smile.  It reminds me of the Bauer Mints my neighbor used to bring me back from Chicago.

It's not only Hershey's that I like.

Oh,  those rice crispy chocolates used to be my favorite.  I loved having a Crunch Bar but no more.  Something about chocolate colored wax is a turnoff.

The Lindt Truffles are also good, but not the white!

I guess out of all the chocolate I've eaten, Pangburn's Millionaires is still the best... even better than See's candies.

Is that true? I've only seen See's once this side of this Rockies, and that was a few years ago in a supermarket in New York. Looks like I'll have to make a visit to Brookfield Square in the next few weeks. Thanks for the lead!

Chocolate has never been something that I loved and when i do eat it, I definitely lean more towards the milk chocolate end of the spectrum.  The time of year I do crave it is around the holidays.  Here is Columbus, that always means lots of boxes of Anthony Thomas assortments around.  Once a box is open, I can't seem t o leave it alone.  At my parents house in Indiana, it is Donaldson's assortments from Lebanon which are also excellent.

I am not much for candy of any sort, but years ago I used to love Barton's square truffles.

I am a Chocolate Snob, or a chocolate blob?

I love Hawaiian Vintage Chocolate, the only chocolate grown in the US.
It is complex and hints of many different components.
It's not cheap, but IT IS GOOD!

See's can be purchased online.  You can make up your own selection in a 1, 2 or 3 lb. box.  Tried their truffles last Christmas and was not impressed.  I like Parisian truffles.........so I am a chocolate snob.  I don't even like chocolate but when I have a piece I want it to be excellent.

As a child I loved Hershey's chocolate bars...a few years older I became very sophisticated and liked Hershey's Almond bars. Think I've tried almost every chocolate I could find! I like to use Ghirardelli's 60% chocolate chips for cookies and bars. Penzey's cocoa powder (either Dutched or regular, depending) is great for baking. Currently, my favorite eating chocolate is Lindt Taste of Sea Salt bars. I buy a bunch of the bars every time I find them on sale and keep them in my dresser. My husband knows they're there but wouldn't dare touch them - unless he's desperate!!

the original Nestles milk choclate candy bars from the 60's & 70's were the best tasting chocolate.
they had to change the recipe because they are almost tasteless now.
