Home delivery of food - Tue, 11/15/11 10:35 PM
0
What kinds of foods or cuisines do you have home delivered?

I've only ordered pizza in, but I was at a friend's home Sunday for a small get together of four people.

She ordered barbecue in.  It was all baby backs and one steak.

The restaurant is about 2 miles from home.  They said that it would be a 30 - 40 minute wait for delivery.

At one hour she called them.  "Five minutes more"

Fifteen minutes later we received warm barbecue and a cold steak.  Why he would order a steak delivered, I'll never know.

My ribs were full of fat unlike any baby backs I've ever had.

We were starved so we reheated some of the food and ate the rest cold.

Guess we could have complained but what good would it have done?

I'd never order barbecue in..,. would you?  What would you order in?

We don't order food to be delivered but we will go pick up carry out Thai, Chinese, pizza and shrimp. We used to order delivery at work but it was always wrong so we quit doing that except for pizza now and then.

Only pizza but we have the oven on when it arrives so it's hot when we eat it.

We have very limited home delivery options here. Pizza, subs, wings, lasagna (from the pizza place)...that's really about all you can get. There used to be a company that (for an exorbitant fee and a ridiculously high minimum order) would delivery from various local restaurants, but they're long gone. Probably because you couldn't get a delivery for less than about $25.00.

Exactly!  Why jeopardize the quality of your product?

I have no problem picking up food to eat at home but I know how long it will take to get home.

I was hoping for pizza but the birthday boy wanted his steak.  I just knew it was a miz---steak.

I would think BBQ would travel well. The ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and BBQ Chicken would steam and stay hot and moist in containers. Cole cole slaw, would stay cold, hot baked beans and warm corn bread would travel well. .................I don't know why or how to deliver a good quality steak for delivery, nor would I try. When I cater a Steak dinner, we mark the steaks in house and finish on site....................pnwc

I just wish I could order anything at all. Stinks when you live out in the boondocks.

Pizza, almost exclusively.  I did experiment with delivered Chinese food here, but they were very slow and the food deteriorated in transit.  I personally think Chinese food needs to be eaten freshly cooked, which is one of the reasons (among many) that I won't eat at Chinese buffets.

Same here.  Our delivery option consists of someone calling on the phone and saying, "I'm in town.  You want anything?"

We just have your usual pizza/wings/subs and Chinese places that'll deliver to my area. Most of them are overpriced and the food isn't very good.
One of the things I loved about living in Kirkland, WA (Seattle) was Dinner Delivery Plus... I think for $5 you could order from a wide variety of restaurants and have it delivered. I don't ever recall getting a sketchy meal from them.

Know that feeling well!!  And then town is still 18 miles, so every thing is cold by the time it gets here.

I wouldn't order in from 18 miles away, either.

Chicago Ribs is the deliverer of cold barbecue.  We could have driven up the hill the two miles, eaten, complained about the bad food and driven home while stopping for ice cream before we actually got our food.

There was no excuse for what we received.

Not much of a choice here except for pizza and sandwiches (from the pizza place)

I call in for Pizza, Italian & Chinese only, go get it and arrive before they say it will be done because they always give themselves a little leeway. Even then it sometimes needs reheated

We have "Steak Out" here and it pretty good. Their steak tips are my fav., it comes w/a small side salad and baked potato. When I was working we ordered Steak Out alot. Their burgers are good and pretty good steak sandwich. The orders come w/free tea.  We also have Mexician delivery place that has awesome enchiladas and really good chips and cheese dip. Their tacos are good too.

I remember working for a company that had a car service, and they decided to see if they could do a "universal" restaurant delivery service, to make a little extra income for themselves and the drivers. Unfortunately, the expected tips were not forthcoming (although there was no delivery fee, most of the customers tipped only a buck or two, even on $100+ orders to offices), so that fell through.

We live too far removed from the pizza and other prepared food delivery service.......BUT the IGA in a town about 10 miles away does home delivery of groceries. This is the same store that custom grinds our Burger, and cuts the Porterhouses that I have posted photos of many times. I have used the order-delivery service a couple of times. It is a very convenient way to deal with a need, if you know exactly what you want and they happen to have it. BUT, The down-side is that I enjoy browsing food stores, and lose that pleasure when I shop via the phone !!

We do have one of those "eats delivered places" who pick up from about 14 restaurants in my area but I've never tried them. They charge $3.99 for the delivery and suggest you tip the delivery person 20% all of which seems reasonable. They make it a point to tell you that tips are the drivers only compensation.

There's a Chinese food place here that delivers, but with a minimum $20 charge to qualify I've never ordered. Pizza sometimes. There's a barbeque place nearby, but I don't think they deliver. I pick it up and bring it home.
