Is Canada Dry still making Black Cherry Wishniak? And if so, where can I buy it.? I have not seen it in the Philly area for a long time.

i see it in stores all around montco - from mid county to the southern part.  i mean supermarkets as well as convenience stores - although, wawa has 'their brand' of just about everything now, so, they don't offer anything other than the cd ginger ale now - all the fruit flavored sodas are now 'wawa brand'.  7/11's are all franchises, so, each store may carry different things.

canada dry is part of the pepsi-snapple group and the stuff is produced at the pepsi plant in pennsauken, so, if you ask someone to order the item in for you, they'll need to speak with their pepsi rep to order it.

I continue my search for Canadry Dry Black Cherry Wishniak and cannot find it in PA. If you know of a specific place in Montco (must be Canada Dry) please let me know. I will drive there the next day and be happy to pick up some for you.

Thanks,

Bill

It's made by Baltimore Beverage Co., a division of Honickman Group-the bottler of Canada Dry and other beverages;

I bought mine at Madonna's Beverage Distributors in Glenside.

Don't remember Canada Dry, but remember Frank's Black Cherry Wishniak. You can get it at Amazon but it's expensive, plus shipping costs.

Is it sold in Philly area supermarkets that carry Frank's beverages??

i've been looking and the couple stores i'd gotten it a before didn't have it - the one place has new owners...and the few supermarkets i've been in i've been in a rush and didn't have time to look - i have to go shopping this weekend, so, i'll make sure to check though!

anyhoo, was in this one wawa last night (ardmore) and i'd looked there before when you first asked about it and they only had their brand (at some point early on when they introduced their brand they still had the cd stuff).  well, i grabbed my dr p and stood up (it's on the bottom shelf) and ta-da!!  right there at eye-level is canada dry brand black cherry wishniak and vanilla cream!!!  so, check the wawa's near you!!

I never see Franks in supermarkets. If Stein's Famous deli is still around in the Krewstown Shopping Center in Northeast Philly, they have carried all flavors of Franks sodas for a number of years and still did the last time I was there within the past year (I know they've had problems, which is why I put that qualifier in my first sentence), including black cherry wishniak. I grew up on the stuff and still consider it my favorite soda flavor.

Just visited Costa's Deli in Ambler and bought Levis' Champ Cherry and noticed cans of Day's Black Cherry Wishniak in the cooler. Costa's also sells Levis' beef hot dogs and I bought one and took it home and grilled it. Not as spicy as a Hebrew National but pretty good. The dogs at the original Levis' were boiled.

I believe all Wawa stores are carrying it now.  The "little" Wawa in Havertown (Manoa/Darby) had it last month when I was there - and ALL of the stores in the Baltimore area (where I live) started carrying it in the last couple of months.  Yay!  Now I get to instruct all of my Baltimoron neighbors how to pronounce it.

The only other place I was able to buy it consistently is the Exxon station on Rte. 896 near the University of Delaware stadium.

My understanding is that Frank's has been out of business for years.  Canada Dry Wishniak is a great choice, and is a LOT less sweet than Franks.  When you could still get it, the Pathmark in Newark Del was one of my required stops on my way home, because they were the last I'd found that sold Franks, and I was getting the Canada Dry everywhere else, so I was able to compare them.  I (and my wife) really liked the CDW better.

I just found the canada dry black cherry wishniak in baltimore, md at the 7-11 on harford road. I love it. I was a cheerwine lover, but this wishniak is awesome and not as sweet. Im hoping to find it in a store around here that sells it as a 12 pack. But untill then, will have to continue with the single bottles :(

Welcome aboard JazVulture and lparker2010!

I will have to be on the lookout for the Canada Dry Black Cherry Wishniak.  I pass 7-11 and WaWa stores daily so hopefully a local one will have it.

Bought a bottle at the WaWa this morning.  The bottle label boasted "300 calories per bottle".

Not sure if it was as good as I remember Frank's was, but I still liked it.  Will probably finish it with lunch as it seems it will go better with food than by itself.

I can't believe it. I just went to my local Acme in Lansdale for some heavy cream and went by the soda isle on my way to the register. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw about 15 two liter bottles of Canada Dry Black Cherry Wishniak on the shelf. My prayers have been answered.

I came across some Canada Dry BCWishniak at the SuperFresh here in Ocean City NJ.  Ms. OC had never heard of it.  Took me awhile to teach her how to pronounce it.

Okay so this post is in response to a very old message - but if you go to the Mars Store at Joppa and Harford Roads, you'll find they sell BCW in 2-liter bottles.

Here is one of the last bottles I bought a few years ago at the deli I mentioned in one of the above posts (I recently heard that the deli moved to the big shopping center across Grant Ave. from the old location; it's been too long since I've been there for me to say if they still carry Frank's).
Stewart's Soda, which is probably a regional brand, also puts out a version of Black Cherry Wishniak.

So what is Black Cherry Wishniak? Besides some sort of a drink?

There is an explanation in this article:  http://www.phillymag.com/news/2010/04/12/the-cheesesteak-of-beverages/
