Club soda with bitters is always good. Sometimes I've been known to have a club soda with a lime wedge. And with chocolate syrup and some milk it's a two-cents plain.

In NYC, that's a egg creem.

Of course it is. I don't know how I came up with two-cents plain, which is a glass of soda.

What?  No drinkers of phosphate here?

Sometimes the serve yourself soda fountains have a club soda button hiding under the flavor buttons.

Great stuff!

Really good with Tom Collins mix and gin.

We always use plain seltzer water in egg creams (out of an old-fashioned seltzer bottle) since it has more carbonation and no potassium bicarbonate/potassium sulfate to dull the effervescence.  Just bought a bottle of the Kosher for Passover U-Bet syrup (sweetened with sugar rather than HFCS) for the folks at work to try a proper egg cream.  I always understood "two cents plain" to be seltzer, but maybe that's not right. We used to get seltzer bottles delivered to our house when we lived in DC.

We've had handmade signs spring up in our area offering seltzer delivered. I'm not familiar with that type of service. Is that some sort of custom among certain groups?

Certain groups? I don't know about that, but growing up we always had a case of seltzer and a bottle of U-Bet chocolate syrup delivered each week.

By charging for it. I can't remember how much it cost, but it was about 15 bucks a week, I think.

I prefer seltzer-my drink of choice when out at restaurant. I dont mind if they charge for it-I dont drink alcohol or soda-but I like a sparkle in a beverage here and there.

I'm a huge fan of seltzer and club soda. I've found that one of the primary reasons that I enjoy soda is the carbonation, so seltzer often makes an excellent (and much more healthy) substitute for a typical soft drink when I get that craving.

Personally, Perrier is one of my favorite drinks. I've been running a beverage review blog (www.drinkablereview.com) for the past four years, and even after everything that I've tasted, Perrier is still my go-to beverage. The carbonation is perfect, and I have yet to pick one up and not be in the mood to drink it.

I like what Ian Fleming wrote in one of his short stories about specifying expensive soda water as the best way to improve a poor drink. I think the drink in question was a Negroni or an Americano

The Sodastream machine makes great seltzer . It's easy and fun, and you can make healthy drinks using fruit juices. I like many of their sodas, too, especially the diet ones!

Jeeze Louise, we had seltzer in the old bottles with flaking chrome and plastic netting glued over decades old bottles until the 80's. I think the company we dealt with for over 30 years finally gave up and quit delivering and just quit delivering. There must be 2 cases of the bottles and wooden case still somewhere at my parents house. Important distinction between club soda and seltzer is the salt in club soda. Up until recently, I still was buying 5 packs of Ritz's selter for my dad a month for about $3 for a six pack. Most of the national brands were near $5 for much smaller bottles. The consumers are waning. My kids hated it. So does my spouse. Like many traditional things, the younger generation will drink Perrier or one of the national sparkling water brands, but not plain seltzer.
I still enjoy a tradional chocolate soda every once in a while. The taste repulsed my kids and spouse. One of the complaint is it's too carbonated. I guess the "sparkling waters" are much less carbonated, yet the kids have no problems with canned and bottled beverages. Quinine water is seeing a resurgance with many boomers swearing by their parents claim that it reduces morning leg cramps. Maybe they should seek their great grandparents belief that a fresh bar of soap under the sheets does miracles.

Well the hand made signs for home delivery of seltzer water have appeared again. This seems to be tied in with Jewish holidays.

I usually keep a bottle of club soda in the fridge. I drink very little soda, but like the carbonation also, so I use it with oj, sometimes grape juice, and on a rare occasion scotch or bourbon with a lemon wedge.

Now that it's Day 38 without my beloved Coke Zero...seltzer is my saving grace.

It's a bonus my children don't like it. That means I know it will be there.

I like Polar brand.

I remember as a kid it being called "white soda". I don't know if that was a regional term from the northeast or something made up.

My Mother calls it charger water. I ran like hell when I saw the green charger coming out of the box...like it was going to explode.

An unexpected sip of Tonic water you'd thought was seltzer will clear your entire mind for a few hours...at least.

Their syrups are good, but they charge far too much for the CO2. There are instructions on how to hook up a sodastream to far less expensive CO2 cartridges, reducing the price per bottle considerably.

Speaking of bottles, that's another problem with the device, especially for people without dishwashers; it is nigh impossible to thoroughly clean those things by hand.

I have a spray bottle of diluted bleach water that I use around the sink.  I also spray it in the Soda Stream bottles to clean them.

I don't use flavors so mine don't get as dirty as those that do.

I love seltzer water, especially flavored.

Something I recently started doing is adding Euphorix... excellent!
