Are they really as sweet as they claim? When purchased in California, the Vidalias (from Georgia) are not sweet.

Vidalias are a very sweet onion and have a very short shelf life. You need to get them as fresh as possible. They tend to go bad in just a few weeks. Some folks refer to them as weed onions. Mine tend to never last that long as I use them as a staple along with garlic and potatoes. Apparently there are several varities of onions that are just as sweet such as some from California. mar52 What's a Priority Club? It is the frequesnt stay ponts club that is for the Intercontinental Hotel Group. IHG group includes Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge, and Candlewood. We do a lot of traveling and have found them to be best frequent stay program. Sorry I didnt make what the Priority Club was very clear in my first post. Thanks for the help guys. Are they sweet? Certainly not as sweet as a fruit but compared to an average onion they are very sweet. We put them in foil after peeling, slit the top open and insert a beef boullion cube and a pat of butter. Then bake at 425 for 30-40 minutes. Incredible.

The real Vidalias have a paper sticker on the onions declaring them from Vidalia, GA.
