St. Mary's County Maryland: Stuffed Ham?
-
Fri, 05/25/12 2:10 AM
I'm there this weekend and looking for stuffed ham, the specialty of the area. Is this a round-the-year food or mostly holidays? Where can I get a taste, sandwich, platter, take-out, etc.?

NYNM, I did some sleuthing on the internets and found this article (linked from a message board on CHOW.com. The article is from October 2010, but I hope it's helpful. Link: http://www.urbanitebaltim...me/Content?oid=1309472 The paragraph fifth from the bottom lists three places the author tried on her trip.

As a big fan of stuffed ham, thanks for that link billyboy. I have tried unsuccessfully to find other places than serve stuffed ham in the area. We will trying these later this year.

I agree with Michael Stern St Mary's Landing is the safest bet You can get it served either cold or warm- I recommend cold Billyboy Thanks for the link, it's good to know there's other options out there- perhaps one day I'll do a "stuffed ham smackdown"

If you are around St. Mary's in October, I recommend the annual Oyster Festival. Not only can you get oysters in all possible ways, there is great stuffed ham sandwhichs to be had. Its a lot of fun.
