No salad bars please.

A friend of mine suggested an Italian place called Lo Sole Mio but I don't know if it's open for lunch.  Good luck!

Brad,

That's a bizarre coincidence- my brown nosing- ex- Nebraska  coworker just mentioned that place and said it could never compare to anything "on the hill" referring to Federal Hill here in RI.

You're at work on a Sunday night?!?

I asked Alan if there were any Omaha steakhouses that served good salads and he couldn't think of any.  I believe he used the terms "limp iceberg lettuce" and "glop"...

I couldn't comment about the salad, however I think she was referring to the food in general

Of course not, we were discussing this earlier this week. She commented that the steaks at a "Outback Steakhouse" are just as good as any that you would get at a steak house in Nebraska but that even the most mediocre RI Italian Restaurant would be better than the best that you would find in Nebraska.

BTW

I had another brown noser co-worker who pulled the same thing when I lived in Seattle- this Portuguese girl from Elizabeth New Jersey- said the Olive Garden was just as good as any Italian Restaurant in the NYC area- I'm serious- this is no joke!

webean - I am sorry that I cannot comment on your quest for salad in Omaha. From my experieces, Omaha has pretty much been a meat-and-potatoes kind of town.

As for the other discussion re: Lo Sole Mio, I am no one's brown-nosing co-worker (and I have many co-workers who can attest to that), and I grew up on Long Island and have eaten on The Hill in St. Louis, NYC's Little Italys (both the gentrified Manhattan version and the real one on Arthur Ave in the Bronx), and countless other places that specialize in Italian cuisine - and I can assure you - Lo Sole Mio is one of the finest Italian restaurants in which I have ever dined.

Their lunch menu does indicate some salad choices, with excellent descriptions. If the OP's granddaughter likes these types of salads, this place may be a hit.

This is too  bizarre for word- And all this time I kept calling it "TTM's Italian Restaurant in Omaha" Seriously- I had no idea- I have to tell Lisa (my coworker from Nemaha Nebraska) she is going to crack up!

Do  people in the East think no Italians ever made it beyond the Hudson?

Yes

Actually most NY'ers are convinced they didn't even cross either the Hudson or the East River.

We know Frank Sinatra grew up in Hoboken and how do you explain Bensonhurst?

I know, but outside of the tri state metro area Italians simply don't exist
signed- a true diehard native New Yorker who has actually come to grasp that there really are Italian people in Rhode Island and that it really isn't as "Kennedyesque" as everyone told me it was (ok it's not Kennedyesque at all!)
