I have a leather cup with a little compartment that snaps on the bottom that holds playing card dice. I love it! It came from Tijuana about 35 years ago.

The original black, high top Keds with the round brand emblem.

Jeans being called Dungaree's by anyone over 35. Some older people called them "overhose" although I got the feeling that was a yankee term for overalls.

Bell Bottoms.

Anyone remember those flat things that used to dangle in front of the open coolers in stores to keep in the cold? You had to move them away to get to what you wanted. The beer was kept out of sight and found under the produce in hidden coolers in many stores. You only knew the beer was there because of the brand decal on the front panel. Maybe that was a southern thing only. Some places that had beer in open coolers had what looked like a shade that was pulled down especially on Sunday.

Toni home perms.

Max Factor greasy kid stuff. The stuff was bright yellow in a jar and you'd see oily marks where boy's heads contacted a surface. Go ahead and say Brylcream and throw in an Ace comb with the pocket clip.

UFO's made from straws, a candle, and a laundry bag.

Needed a V05 hot oil treatment in the little tubes that you heated in a glass of hot water after a Toni perm.

Dawn
Take another look at my post #125 on p.5   Black Tennis shoes with white laces and the Keds seal on this young man !

I have always been such a fashion Plate ~!!

Many of the comments on shades in the coolers and sales time and day limits are in reference to 'Blue Laws' that are still in force in many areas of the country.  No Alcohol on Sunday (IN) or before noon on Sunday(KY) is common here in Kentuciana . No sales between 2 AM and 6 AM is common.
Genuine Tent Revivals are still found in this area...Traveling Preacher with a Tent, Some Music, and a Van full of family/followers borrows a pasture from a farmer or settles in for a week at a local rural church and operates somewhat like an old fair or carnival, Only they do their style religious service instead of the usual carnival stuff.  Plenty of local support in the way of food and time together for social interaction, Plus a lot of religion.  We even have had some of the "Snake Services" at one group's gathering. Interesting, but not my style, I'm a bit too tame for the exotic action of many  of the tent-goers.

Going to the big car wash was almost as fun as the log flume. They were much longer years ago....with the nice spinning soapy monsters. Make sure the windows are rolled all the way up.

My family owned a Barrel & Drum company years ago. I'm sure if they knew the Bbq'ers of today would be in search of the vessels...they'd hook ya right up.

That's nice. Girls who knit. I need a hat with a pom-pom.

Dawn thank you so much for remembering the photo booth. I had some lovely photos taken after running yesterday...that will be stitched together with my 1976 picture. It only costs $1.99 for a sheet to be mailed from Pocketbooth. I will be blackmailed for much more than that. Ohhh...you look so cute! Uh huh.

I really think they still have those photo booths.  You probably have to insert bills into them to make them work.  And of course, they are digital.

I still perfume my love letters but I don't mail them. That would defeat the purpose. So I'm there with the perfume and the letter with the perfume is there. I guess I could leave...but that would defeat the purpose.

I will miss the Margaritas at the Acapulco in Westwood. The first time I was there a big giant Howard the Duck head was right across the street...for the opening of that blockbuster movie!!!

The Road Race in my hometown......when it started as 5 probably still hung-over bartenders running the 5 miles from Woods Hole to Falmouth heights...and then promptly dropping in a nearby place to celebrate with a beer.  Now, the race is sponsored, TV cameras, International Runners........And you can't move for about 4 days thru most of the town.  Thank Gawd I don't live there anymore

And The Strawberry Festival Parade, where it seemed 1/2 the town would turn out, work like the dickens on floats........with the only prize a day of community spirit

Gathering Mussels at the shore for free.   For some reason, in the 50's and 60's, Mussels weren't as popular as they are today and the jetties of Cape Cod would be covered with them, ready to slash your bare feet to shreds.  Now that they have become gourmet items, those rocks are picked clean.

Sort of like the story that the prisoners in Maine in the 1800's rioted because they got sick and tired of being served lobster almost every day....seems noone wanted the bottom feeders back then.

Easily found in Bergen County, NJ; all the supermarkets carry it.

I found it at the Shoprite of Matawan. We are usually free of Delight in Hudson County. I can stock up this week...since I have the honor of babysitting bulldogs.

Thankfully dry cleaners are still here.

Since Halloween is approaching...

The Haunted Mansion of Long Branch.

http://www.darkinthepark....ansion/Home/lbhome.htm

Was it scary? I doubt it but yes (for both my Father & me)...and long. He pinned it all on me.

My Mother said ..."ya both gonna be scared" She was right.

It burned down many years ago...and I usually think about it during this time of the year.

See...all fun & games until...if you dare.
