Anybody remember Little Pigs of America? - Thu, 08/16/12 1:57 PM
Apparently there were once over 200 stores but the chain folded when I was quite young:

Does this bring back any memories?

Nope, not for me. I don't recall any here around San Antonio. We went to Alaska in 1965 to 69,when my dad was stationed at Elmendorf AFB. None in Anchorage,
and never recall any in Maryland ,at least non near Fort George Meade, when he was at NSA.

Alas, I don't remember it either......but i grew up on Cape Cod in the 50's and 60's.  Where I lived, we had NO chain rest except the ubiquitous HJ.  Then the first "mall" got built and Friendly's moved in. Today, of course, another whole story.  I remember some poor guy had a small  regional chain of burger places and wanted to build one in the town.  Bent over backwoods to do the architecture right and hide the parking lot behind and yada yada......they never let him in. But in the 50's and 60's almost every place was locally owned/operated independently..usually a husband/wife team. You could get a 25 cent burger in the mid 60's at one place that was great.  Of course, it had been built on the "wrong" end of town (right next to one of the swankiest Steakhouse places that hosted things like Rotary, Kiwanis, etc), but that is the closest I remember to the concept of fast food until I went on to college

The company that owned Little Pigs also owned a pizza chain called Cibo House.  You can read about their demise here:
