Labor Day Ideas - Mon, 09/3/12 9:50 AM

Just bought a condo on the beach and excited that family is coming over for the day.  Any suggestions on what to make  for an impromtu picnic on the sand.  I have to keep in my mind that no grills are allowed on a private beach.

A luau. Dig a pit and roast a pig. See, no grill.

I like keeping it simple, maybe a potato salad, some good cheese, a baguette, etc.

Cheese, good sausages, beer, wine, good bread, a large salad

I hope it isn't too late for these suggestions, make your own  sandwiches - offer small buns with an assortment of sliced cheese, roast beef or ham, etc.,   Buy, or cook your own chicken, and serve with some type of salad like cole slaw, macaroni, potato, stuffed eggs, salsa and chips,   Watermelon, or some kind of fruit mixture?

Thanks guys good suggestions, the clam bake would be right up my alley as wood the luau but this is kind of last minute so I will go with BelleReve and Kevin.

So blue heaven, since there were no pig roasts, what did you end up doing?
