Say 6 slices, cooked how you liked it, would you buy it? *

You could also serve it as dessert... sprinkle with brown sugar and bake until caramelized.

Guess you'd have to then crumble it and serve it over ice cream.

I saw chocolate covered bacon at the Ohio State Fair this summer. But I wouldn't eat it as a desert or an appetizer. Heck, I usually won't eat it at all.

Now, if only it tasted as good as it smells while it's being cooked.

Texas lollipops are bacon wrapped around sausage. They are American manly and BBQish.

You mean just 6 slices on a plate with no accompaniments?
If it were primo bacon like Neuske's or some other recognizable gourmet bacon, then maybe.
If it were just ordinary bacon, not as likely.
You would need something with it to give it eye appeal and interest.
Six slices by themselves on a plate? Not very appetizing.

There's always bacon wrapped dates.

They're addicting.

PS...  Thanks, Chewy!

Battered and fried and served with a dipping sauce.  The college kids eat everything.

What could you call them?  Cloggers.

Peter Luger's serves bacon as an appetizer, I guess it's pretty popular. I'd like to see some bacon on a caprese salad on a menu, you bet your life I'd order that.

I don't think it would ever occur to me to order bacon as an appetizer. As an addition to whatever I'm eating? Sure! But as an appetizer...not really. And I love bacon.

I'm with you felix, many times I would order a side of bacon with some breakfast item, like maybe an omelet.

For a while, I was into making some of that candy type bacon, baked with maple syrup or brown sugar.  But eventually that got to be too much work, and I stopped.  Plus I never could seem to perfect it.

A local place that is trying to be upscvale has pork belly confit as an appetizer, and claims it is one of their signature items.  I'm trying to get there and check it out.  You ever have that?

I've not had pork belly...which seems exceedingly odd, now that I think about it. Definitely on my list of things I have to eat!

I do not understand this apparent fascination with chunks of fat.

Chunks of fat cooked crispy and delicious!

But hard to like when half-cooked and limp.

It's still a chunk of fat. I cut away fat from my meat and render it down to use as anti-bug grease when I'm squirrel hunting in the early season.

Now you're kidding!  Isn't the idea of hunting to be that the hunter stay as neutral as possible, and not announce his presence?  Smelling like fried bacon ought to get you a lot of new friends in the woods.  Especially the flying kind.

When I was fifteen, all I had to do was grab the .22 and go up the hill behind the house.  Sit down and shut up for a while, and soon the little buggers are all over the place.

Ever 'bark' 'em?  I was never that good.

Now, if there were only a bacon flavored vienna sausage, well, maybe....naw, no way, you don't really eat those things anyway, they're just for fish bait, right?

I bet there's an old, beat-up can in the bottom of your tackle box right now.

In the early season here when you sit waiting for some bushytails to show you end up a feast for the bug population. Bug dope keeps 'em off you -- sort of.

As to barking, yes, I have managed to bark a few of them over the years. Not in the past 30 years, though. I've been hunting my squirrels with revolvers and pistols in that time and I'm not good enough to bark a squirrel with a handgun.

I do, indeed, actually eat Viennies, and I'd love to try bacon-flavored ones if they exist. I'm sure there's a least one can of Vienna sausage in every one of my tackle boxes, except for the salmon, steelhead and walleye boxes. I usually stick some cans of sardines in those.

I buy uncooked bacon all of the time!

Then I cook it the way I like, so yes. I can most definitely say I'd purchase 6 slices of bacon providing I can cook it appropriately :)
