There are categories of Biscuit sandwiches - Frozen, FF chains, Mom & Pops, Home-made, etc
Serious Eats recently posted the results of a taste test of Jimmy Dean and Aunt Jemima frozen biscuit sandwiches.
Jimmy Dean won!
SO----What is your favorite Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich?
Besides my own, I prefer a Hardee's Sausage Biscuit but, since I can't get one out here, my local favorite is a Jack in the Box Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. I like that it is available 24/7/365!

The chicken biscuit (A fried breast piece on a buttered fresh, made from scratch biscuit)   from  Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen. Chapel Hill, NC.   It's one of my all-time favorite roadfood places.

Hardee's don't have much but I agree that their biscuit is certainly my favorite.  I have tried to duplicate them but I cannot.  Mine always turns out OK but not pretty and brown and sorta crispy.

For fast food, I love the biscuit sandwiches at Bojangles.  However, that photo above looks outrageous!  I've never been to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen, though, so am happy with Bojangles.  For now.

Too bad they're no where near the SF Bay Area.

I tried Tudor's Biscuit World, found throughout West Virginia, but didn't love them.

Glenn, that chicken biscuit looks gorgeous

The closest I have had to that is the chicken biscuit at Chik-Fil-A, which is fairly inconsistent in quality here locally, but on it's best day is probably about half as good as the biscuit in the photo you posted - which is still pretty darn good! :-)

Seconded, emphatically.  Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is a first ballot Hall-of-Famer.

I'd settle for a biscuit up here.  95% of the places up here selling biscuits need to go to remedial biscuit school.

I do like a good Bojangle's biscuit, however.

I've added Sunrise to my hit list.  Hopefully it won't be long before my next UNC trip.

Thirded.

The four months in which I lived in Chapel Hill were made far better by the option of going to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen. Also, as mentioned in this thread, Bojangles is a nice fall back option, should you be in a non-Chapel Hill area. I am particularly fond of grabbing one should I have a connection at CLT in the B gate area.

After those two, there is a significant drop off the rest of the biscuit-eating options tied for third.

Mamie's Kitchen in Covington Ga. the Chicken and the Steak and Gravy are both very good. Also for chains Hardee's followed closely by Bojangles.

Yes, indeedy! A chicken biscuit is my favorite when getting a fast food biscuit. Hardee's is close to work but Biscuitville is on the way to anywhere else - we have 9 Biscuitville locations in my area. Chick-fil-A and Bojangles are possiblities too, but not up there with Hardee's and Biscuitville. Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to Chapel Hill in the near future to sample the Sunrise fried chicken biscuit!

While in North Carolina, both Biscuitville and Bojangles were favorites....didnt make it to Sunrise-but will next visit!. The absolutely best biscuit was from a little gas station in Raleigh near my cousins....know how to get there from her place but dont rememeber the name-owners wife came in every morning with her home made stuff-including pecan pie and chess pie, and of course, biscuits!

Anyone around Atlanta or traveling to should try the chicken biscuit at Martin's. A small regional chain of 15 stores mostly on the NW side of ATL. Each store has a person making fresh biscuits in small batches. Purists can even order light or dark tops on them. The chicken is great but I tend to favor the country ham.

That's actually a "ricochet biscuit".  And if it don't bounce back, you go hungry.  Bow bow bow.

My favorite is a sausage and egg biscuit at Hardee's, but the nearest one to me is in Rushville IN, about 30 miles from here. Still doable though if the urge hits. Unfortunately, my upcoming move back to Chicagoland will take me far from Hardee's territory. When I'm in North Carolina, Biscuitville is also a favorite, and I hope to get to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen on a future trip.

Update: That Hardee's in Rushville is now about 215 miles from me. Oh well, nothing lasts forever...

I'm new here.  But I have to agree that Bojangles and Biscuitville make excellent biscuits.  Finally went into Biscuitville in Danville, VA end of Oct while flagging race at VIR.  Went back Sunday AM for breakfast.  Plan on stopping everytime we go to VIR.

Whenever I am in WV , I always stop at Tudor's for a breakfast biscuit. The biscuits are good, but I like what you can get on the biscuit. Tudor's has country ham & a real egg fried to your liking (I want a runny yolk). My best breakfast biscuit!!

I vote for Suzi's in South Charleston, WV.  Their BLT biscuit is the best breakfast biscuit I have ever had.

If we're talking fast food, I think Hardee's has the best. In fact, I'll never understand why they don't serve their biscuits all day. I think they'd make a fortune. All the Hardee's around here are always completely dead at dinnertime.

You know  I actually liked the sausage biscuit at Burger King but a couple of weeks ago I saw them loading precooked sausage patties into slots of a deep fryer rack and give a minute or so dunk in the hot grease. Actually they still tasted OK but I was a bit turned off by the method.

As for Hardee's; their CF steak biskit w/egg and (maybe cheese...), is worthy.
And yes I said biskit...

I ate at the Biscuit King in Fairhope AL a few years ago and was underwhelmed by them. Pasty gravy did not cut it. Plenty os sausage was good, but the biscuits were small and on the hard side. Not anywhere near the top of my list.

Pine State Biscuits here in Portland makes an excellent biscuit sandwich. it is even reviewed favorably in the Sterns' 500 Things Book and it is well worth a stop at either location when in Portland.

So I guess we here in NYC are not terribly lacking in the biscuit dept. if Bojangles is mentioned so often!

It's not super salty like some and very tender. Pick up some Pillsbury Grands FROZEN buttermilk biscuits and some jalapeno jelly and you have yourself a great Southern treat! (I used to live in western NC)

Tell you what....those little biscuits are great. I'm not talking about the dairy case ones. They come a dozen to a bag and are frozen. ALMOST as good as my homemade baking powders. Have you actually tried them? Here's some good "feedback" from others here who have tried them.

There is a place (don't imagine it's still there) on Military Highway in Norfolk called the "House of Eggs" and they had this glorious country ham biscuit and this equally glorious sausage biscuit.

I wish you could get frozen Mary B's around here....they are a little better than the Pillsbury. I know scratch ones are better, but these will do. My neighbor is an excellent cook from Alabama and she sampled one of my country ham biscuits last week and thought they were scratch. She was sober as well.

Hey Ann...we LOVE pimento cheese. Our first stop before we go to the condo in Myrtle Beach is the local Bi-Lo grocery store for this stuff! Made locally and it's fantastic.

Pancho-had  awesome, homemade pimento cheese in the Carolinas-learned to make my own based on the taste...even brought back hoop cheese to make it with-however, here in Wisconsin it seems to be a good mild cheddar....

I admit that the frozen Pillsbury biscuits are totally better than the ones I can make myself. And as others mentioned, no clean up! If you're in the South (and possibly anywhere else) Palmetto Cheese brand pimento cheese is to die for.

Taking Cheese to Wisconsin?????????????????
Isn't that like taking Coal to Newcastle?????????????
And BTW, I've had the Pillsbury Frozen Grands and they're OK, just not as good as my Made from Scratch!

DUCK FAT RULES!!!

Duck Fat Biscuits

By Diana Rattray, About.com Guide
The duck fat makes these biscuits especially tender and delicious. If you don't render your own duck fat, you can find it in some grocery stores and specialty markets. It's also available through Amazon.com and other online stores.
For light, flaky biscuits, mix and work the dough as little as possible, just until the dough is moist and holds together. Also, when you cut the dough with the biscuit cutter, don't twist. Try to remember to cut up and down. Twisting can cause them to rise lop-sided as they bake.
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, about 10 ounces
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder, preferably aluminum free
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons (2 ounces) duck fat, chilled for about 20 minutes in the freezer, until solid
1 cup buttermilk
Preparation:
Heat the oven to 425°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Whisk to blend thoroughly.
Work the chilled/frozen duck fat in with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles meal. Add the buttermilk and stir until just moistened. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead just 2 to 4 times. The dough will be soft. Pat gently into a circle about 3/4 inches thick. Cut out with biscuit cutters and arrange on the prepared baking sheet. Gather up the scraps of dough and pat again into a small circle. Work the dough as little as possible.
Bake the biscuits for about 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Makes 10 to 12 biscuits.

Yes, Foodbme, the first time making pimento cheese i wanted it to be as authentic as possible, thus the hoop cheese from N.C, which is how the recipe was explained to me. After making it for the first time, I realized the cheese was good old mild cheddar. Its called hoop cheese because it is made and fermented in a wooden hoop...

Hardee's Chicken homemade biscuit with gravy added has to be the best breakfast biscuit as far as for a FF joint. I used to work there and they grade you on your biscuits. Mine were always A's !!

Those sound fantastic....however, I consider the biscuit a "country ham holder" and find that the little Grands or Mary B's serve the purpose. Next time I make some scratch shrimp and grits I will score me some duck fat. Already know where I can find some. Thanks for the recipe.

I overdid it this morning. Martins in Douglasville,GA. The smoked link biscuit is the size of a Hardee's biscuit and the chicken version is the size of a hamburger bun. Those are real scrambled eggs also. Killer biscuits.

I've not tried Pillsbury's frozen biscuits, but it makes sense that they'd be good:  When I make biscuits I freeze all the extras, and they're fantastic re-heated in a regular (not microwave) oven.

Please keep the photos of biscuits coming.  They're all drool-worthy!
