Re:Building another truck Mon, 01/14/13 5:21 PM (permalink)
Well after 3 weekends of progress I was brought to a halt for 10 days by a virus that refused to let me do anything but run fever and cough... On a good note I have received all my shelving and also the vent-a-hood and fans. I wont be able to work on it this weekend except maybe sunday afternoon because of previous commitments. I need to bust me ass for the next week and weekend as I have an HD inspection on the 29th of the month.. Other than install the vent and the window which wont be here till the 25th everything else just goes against the wall and needs attached...

My generator is going to be on the back of the truck so I can take it off when not needed. To make your generator slide you need these.

I had them on a race trailer and the worked great..

That's a great tip thanks. But now I'm wondering why your using a temp mount for your generator
rather than an under carriage permanent mount using the sliders?
        thanks

Nice, I was searching for a set that could take 500lbs for my battery bank but could not find a cheap set. Thanks for the link.

I hate loud generators and refuse to use them,
I will use 2 honda eu3000 generators(since I already own 2) and can parrallel them to make a quiet 6000 with 50 amp service.
most of our days we will setup in the local food parks and wont need the generator since they have power.
I have a spot picked out on the truck if I come across a 6000 onan for cheap but right now I will got with the 2 hondas..

Got to work on the truck some yesterday, The vent-a -hood wasn't very cooperative but got it up. I will have to make a few pieces different to hold the filters since i changed and went with the fans through the side wall.. The stainless on the hood is a lot tougher then the wall stainless which I was able to cut with a skill saw. The hood on the other hand had to get the air cut off wheel and took a while.. The walls a little thicker than the fan vents so I will have to bend some aluminum and trim out the outside.. Also stud placement of the wall made it so the vents couldn't be centered..

                CD,
Where are you going to get the air your blowing out while running your exhaust fans?
LOL Make up air? How much air will your exhaust fans move per minute?

Filters mounted to the ventahood, next time I will buy the hood ready to go..Going to hookup the fans tomorrow and trim out the top edge and hopefully it will be ready to exhaust air... Will replace the screws with pop rivets.

Nice job and good move trimming out the space between the ceiling and hood top. Often builders have left that area open not thinking about how much gunk collects up there with no way to clean it.

Reese77--There are 3- 29" long 2" square tubing attached to the roof of the truck into the joist and then I attached the hood to the tubing, also screwed to the back wall many times and the time is .063 Alum which is riveted to the hood and then screed through the ceiling. Very sturdy and no movement whatsoever..

The door from Challenger was simple to install, 10 minutes from test fit to completed install.
Also above is the cover I made for the fryer when its not in use..

You do fast and great looking work. I like the cover for the fryer. Good job.
What are the dimensions on your window it looks like it might be an 8 footer,
and ball park what you spent  with Challenger without shipping and what
the shipping ran if I'm not being to nosy.
