Re:CRAZY idea for late night!
Ok, did a little messin' around.
Found some Banquet Pre-cooked Sausage Links (Frozen). Ten for $1.59
Two fit perfectly on a Hot Dog bun.
Found some Country Gravy Mix for $1.39, makes 3 1/2 cups, just add water.
Added Jimmy Dean Pre-cooked Sausage Crumbles to gravy.
One oz. of gravy covers the sausages pretty well w/o being too sloppy.
Voila!.....A one handed Sausage and Gravy Dog!
As is, tasted pretty good. Tweak a little with some sage, thyme and/or cayenne and can only get better.
I figured the cost to be about .55 per serving, depending on how much sausage you put in the gravy.
You should be able to get this OK'd by the HD. Meat is pre-cooked, gravy involves no dairy and can be made on the cart.
Now, I used my microwave to cook the meat, but it shouldn't be hard to do on cart.
Gravy recipe calls for boiling 2 cups water and mixing package with 1 cup water then mixing together. Was thinking of dumping frozen sausages in the boiling water for a minute or two to warm them up.Then throw on griddle to brown a bit. Would flavor "Sausage Gravy Water"
As for holding sausages....either in foil over a steam pan, or why not in the gravy? Flavor each other!
Shouldn't take up much pan space to try it, maybe a 1/3 pan.
No biscuits to bake and possibly no food fights.
And BTW, I usually make my own sausage, biscuits and gravy and wouldn't eat all the chemicals in the mix on a regular basis. Trying to satisfy the HD. Kinda ironic, isn't it?
Oh, and since the mix is so chemical laden, it holds up real well for hours.
