Holly Williams sang a beautiful song about her mothers dad, Waiting on June. You would think with a dad like Hank JR. and Hank senior as a grandfather her mothers side wouldn't get a mention.
Then there was Scotty McCreery, the teenie boppers went nuts.

I'm  not familiar with Whispering Bill, but I don't follow the Opry and some of the old-time singers very closely.  However, I did get there in 2007 and saw Little Jimmy Dickens.  He was funny--stood on a stool to sing, talked about his Pepto Bismol colored suit, etc.

I like how you get to see so many acts at the Opry--some old timers, some new--and they cycle them so you get to hear quite a few songs out of all of them.  Great time.

Bill Anderson, He was big 40 years ago.
Well we ate at Opry Mills the Cheese steak was really good.
Tonight we ate at Johnny Rockets, the place looked good we don't have a place like this near home, big mistake, just because the food is big doesn't make it good. first and last time for Johnny's.
Walked downtown Nashville this afternoon, most of the bars and restaurants have good singers and beer. Actually the more bars you stop at the better the music gets.

Re:Opry - Mon, 02/4/13 8:09 PM
Macon, Georgia was the very first place I ate grits.

It was 1975.  I was with 2 friends and we had a 31 day Greyhound Bus Pass which we used to tour the United States.

The Greyhound cafeteria was serving grits and I asked some other girls that were ordering them how to eat them.

One said butter, salt and pepper and the other said butter and sugar.  Number one was right.

I think I began my love of Roadfood on that trip.  I also had steamed blue crabs right off of a boat in Baltimore and gumbo in New Orleans.

Back to the topic... have fun!

At home  for me is north of Toronto makes Nashville feel warm.
I feel guilty not posting food pictures but if Doc and CTF saw what the wife and I were eating they would disown me.
On to Clearwater today.
Never tried Grits maybe this trip.

The wife, kids and myself ate at a Cuban Cafe La Tinaja in Cocoa Beach. It was really good Cuban food if that interests you. Enjoy your time there, I love Cocoa Beach.

Man I'm jealous. Had a heck of a day at work today. I would have loved to be back at Cocoa Beach. My wife wants to move there and work at the hospital but not the rght time for me. We kayaked in the thousand islands conservation area with the manatees and wild dolphins in August. That was fun. Which place did you dine on the Pier if you dont mind me asking? We ate at the Atlantic Ocean Grill which we enjoyed. Sorry about rambling on I just really miss the ocean. We will be back this summer when kiddos are out of school.

I think that was the name of it but I'm not sure.
We walled up the pier and there was a bar and seats so we sat down and ate. We were so enthralled with the birds and Ocean view I never even saw where the food came from. For entertainment the Pidgins were mating on the rail it was a continuous show. At the end of the Pier the Pelicans were hilarious trying to beg fish like dogs at a dinner table.

Tex,
Last year we went, Dearborn,Nashville, Memphis, Orlando. We wanted to go from Memphis to Corpus Christi but the weather there was wet. We tried again this year but the same thing, it looked like the storm that is reeking havoc now was sitting over C.C. Is CC always like that this time of year and is it worth the trip.

No issue with her, but in Corpus Christie the weather has sucked the last few days.

I'd like to see Texas but every time I'm close it's raining. No sense trading snow for rain even if it is warm. I was even following the Glee Club.

Sorry! I just got back home. Yes it does seem to rain a lot this time of year around Corpus Christie (its about 8 hours south, southwest of me) but that can be hit or miss also, sometimes it can be dry--Texas weather. There are good things to do there. We have been to the beach, the battleship, botanical gardens and conservation area. They are all nice and there are many things to do within driving distance. Lots of GREAT BBQ places within driving distance. If you like birdwatching I have a friend that goes a few times a year.

Well it's time to leave sunny Cocoa, back to Macon for one night then on to Nashville for two or 3 nights. I think we'll do the downtown again and the Opry Friday night. I wish I could drink more, Nashville is a great place to bar hop if you like good music by the yet to be famous. Lots of good food in Cocoa.

While your at the Opry you are close to EASTSIDE FISH - you should stop in and have some HOT Fish before heading back to the frozen tundra.  :-)

Briley Pkwy to Gallatin Pk (turn left) then it is down a little bit across from a FAT MO's it is hidden in the back of an odd lot so you might pass it if not looking for it.

We snuck  though the tornadoes coming out of Florida if we can find a hole in the snow storms we'll be good.
I just discovered I drove all over Florida for 7 days with out a licence. Seems since January 1st us Canadians need an international licence for the sunshine state.

Had fish downtown at Crabby Joe's today good stuff.
Stopped in several bars for beer and live music, some very good singers, you can stand at the door and listen for a while if you like what you hear it's time for beer.
Toured the Ryman, really good tour. I didn't realize how clean the place was until I went into the washrooms, everything was polished to a shine. A really beautiful historic place.

Yes the Ryman is impressive, and just think of all the famous singers who have stood on that stage and performed.  It gave me goosebumps to think about it.

I love Broadway and the Honkey Tonks, the music is always good and if you don't like it, like you said go down a few doors and the music changes.

Have a safe one back to Ontario.

So far so good, Dayton.
Checked in at the hotel and was given a room. The room had a full fridge, snacks and some Valentine gifts so back down to the front desk, next room actually had people, good thing they weren't up to anything as I walked in. Third room was good. Starting to sound like the 3 bears story.

Thank you America, we were treated well in Cleveland, Dayton, Nashville, Macon, Clearwater, Cocoa and many stops in between. Sometimes you were hard to understand but always gracious.
