Dunkin' Donuts returning to Los Angeles!

I lust after donuts.

Somehow I'm able to control that lust.

I'm known to yell out "DONUTS!!!" while passing by a donut shop.

But now?

http://www.kcet.org/socal...ngeles-california.html

The article sort of states that there was/is only one Dunkin' Donuts in California.

I have memories of purchasing those sugary, oddly shaped donuts in Redondo Beach.   Redondo Beach is in California.

Believe me...  for me it wasn't about the coffee.

I like milk with my donuts.  Fresh, ice cold milk.

Hope they don't spread themselves thin (heh heh) like Krispy Kreme.  Around here they closed almost as many shops as they opened.  (not an exact fact... they closed the closest to my shop)

(aside...  wish parking was better by Stan's)

Don't mind me.  I'm just rambling waiting for the game to begin.

Never was interesting to me, people would bring them in at work but I would pass. I will have a bagel now and then if there is cream cheese but mostly settle for a half of english muffin. Just not big on bready/cakey  stuffy. I know I am in the big minority here but I do not eat cake, bread or PIE! Yuck!

35 years ago Dunkin Donuts were good when the various stores made them fresh.("Time to make the donuts", at 3 in the morning no less!) That time has long past I'm afraid.  My kids still ask for them and it is my 23, almost 24 year old Katie that still asks for them for them in lieu of a Birthday cake.
I do still like their coffee but I usually buy the whole beans at the supermarket, when on sale, for Katie to make at home (She makes the best coffee!).
That being said, sweets are not my thing. I do prefer salty things.

Don't hold your breath on Dunkin Donuts until you actually see one. Dunkin Donuts made a big to do about nationwide expansion just about when the recession hit. As far as I can tell their big expansion hasn't materialized. They were suppose to be in Minnesota 5 years ago.

I'd like to see a Tim Horton out of Canada expansion. I liked those shops in our trip through Canada last summer.

If these chains kept a tight reign on quality with  they would be twice as successful! Or maybe more! So sad! I would take more pride in the end result if my brand were on it! Maybe that's why I'm so poor!!

Dunkin Donuts has the worst coffee I ever tasted.  Its horrible and I cant believe people actually pay for that garbage. It tastes like hot water to me.

DD are not the same as they were years ago.  Now they taste mass produced not good like they used to be.  DD are better than no donuts.  i don't drink coffee so no opinion there.

I never thought Dunkin Donuts had great coffee. I drink coffee black, no sugar or cream, so I can taste the difference in coffees. When I lived in the east I ordered coffee at Dunkin Donuts the first time (ca 1969) and made the mistake of saying regular which means black in the Midwest. It came laden with sugar and cream. That tells me they wouldn't know if the coffee tasted great or not. When I got it black it wasn't so great.

I hope the Dunkin Donuts that are made in LA are better/larger than the ones we get here in New York's Norh Country. Sometimes I think that they are having a contest with themselves (or someone) to see who can make the smallest donuts. Not a good value at all for the prices they charge.

Tims did expand south of the boarder, then I think closed a lot of their stores.
    We passed one near Buffalo.
$400,000 to buy, average store sales are a million a year. A friend of my cousin owns 2, he gets right of first refusal on new stores in his area, says he would take them, they are paid off in 4 years. Our village population is 2200 and we have one, the town south of us is 15,000 and they have 4. the drive throughs  are lined up almost 24/7. They also don't make their donuts in house anymore, if I was an owner I would like that, if the donut maker decided not to show up you would be screwed, I would guess that's one reason they quit making them in store.

Went to Subway, $5 for a 12" sub, good deal except you can't find the meat anymore.
Extra meat $1.25, if you do that twice you get the meat they used to give you.

I used to stop for a cup of DD coffee on my way to work in New London. The other day I stopped and bought a box of DD K cups for my machine. What crap...what happened to the coffee.
