Momma's Grizzly Grub '65 Boyertown Conversion

We are just about done with the conversion and thought I'd share the work in progress pictures. I still have a few things to complete, but it's getting close.

Yes, I did the market last summer.  It's a great event, but the time committment for food vendors is a killer if you want to do other locations as well.  So I'm not planning to go back this year.

Right now I'm planning to do one day each mid-week in Wasilla, Palmer, and Anchorage and then weekend locations will depend on what is going on.

The double three sink set up was a matter of convenience.  I have to have a hand wash sink, a prep sink and a three compartment sink.  The first three comp sink I purchased was too small, so I just used it for my hand sink and prep sink.  The third sink in the middle is 6 inches wide, which is all the separation I need between the two.  It will be covered and used as storage for soap and scrub brush.

I may need to paint the legs, but other than that there should not be any problem with the HD.  Our requirements are just smooth cleanable surfaces, and painted walls are fine.  I will also have the area under the counters curtained off to help keep it clean.

Thanks Lisa, I will let you know.

Kenny, your aunt and uncle are great.  Bill puts on exceptionally well run shows.  I've done several of his events in prior years when I had a bath & body product hobby business in addition to the market.

    kennyb,
That is awesome that your aunt and uncle started the market.  I used to go every week!  Why you ever left that beautiful place to move to Kansas is beyond me.  I'd move back in a flash if I could!  Absolutely the best place I've ever lived!!!!!

i liked it alot. i was in the states working in the late 80's when the oil field went belly up, meet a girl who wouldn't go up there and that was it. i did love it there though. just ended up back home though.
i've heard the market is really nice. everytime someone from here go's to AK i tell them to go to the market. everyone has really liked it. i need to get away one of these days and get up there for a visit. havn't been in along time. my daughter is in school in Hawaii, so our travels have been to thre. one more time, May for graduation.

that would be great. only problem is i think we have like one weekend off from now thru November. and that probably isn't the best time to go. i'll never forget my first trip to Prudhoe bay though. late November, about 2 in the afternoon. plane lands, stairs drop down the back, 737 i think, walk off the plane, pitch black outside, wind blowing about 35mph and -38 degrees. had about a 2oo foot walk to the terminal. at 18 years old from Kansas, i thought what the hell have i gotton myself into. didn't think i would make it to the terminal. ah, memories , maybe November would work.

You'll have to make it sooner than November to make it to the market.  It's open mid May to mid September.  I'd suggest the last week in August so that you can enjoy the market and our State Fair in Palmer.

Last week of August sounds good to me.  I forgot about the State Fair.  That's easy to do.

I drove from Anchorage to Prudhoe one summer with a Roadfooder who lived in AK.  Once we got on the Haul Road I said, "Are we really gonna do this??  It's craziness."  We did.  The trip was great (pop-up camper on a pickup).  It was July and the sun never went down.  The wind was whipping in Deadhorse, blowing sand and dirt everywhere.  We took the shuttle to the Arctic ocean, I put my foot in, got my bottle of souvenir water and we got the hell outta there and went back down the Haul Road about 50 miles to Oil Spill Hill and spent the night there.  It was one of many trips I made in AK that I'll never forget.

you probably went to the arctic ocean at east dock camp. i spent a couple years working out of that camp. i loved the state fair, good times. end of August is no good for me, Kansas city Irish festival. one of our biggest events of the year.  i traveled down the haul road once in a big rig. pretty cool trip. it wasn't open to private vehicals back then.

Thanks.  It was July, no snow, lots of sunshine.  One year for my 45th birthday I decided I wanted to spend it in Chicken, AK.  Why?  I dunno. Cuz it sounded fun.  On the way we stopped at Tangle Lakes, it was June 15th and there was snow everywhere.
BTW, Chicken AK is an experience!

can't say i've ever been to chicken. drove right by it. spent sometime in Barrow. not recommended. looking at your pics,we were working in the brooks range one winter and a guy on our crew found a 6' mastodon tusk. that was pretty cool. was the bird house bar there when you were up there? it burned down but not sure when. it was alot of fun.

The Bird House had already burned down when I got there in 2000, I think it burned in '96.  If you drove by Chicken you were on the Taylor Highway (why do they call gravel roads in Alaska highways?)  between Tok and Eagle.  I never found a mastodon tusk in the Brooks Range, but the scenery is truly beautiful, especially Attigun Pass.  Have never been to Barrow.  Would like to spend one or two days there and then leave!
